My daughter continues to have issues related to kidney damage and elevated liver test functions. Her doctor took her off her Enalapril for a while to see if her liver test functions would go down, but they did not. She has an appointment with her nephfologist next week. She has been looking puffy and has put on significant amount of weight on since her hospitalization (20 lbs in two years - she is now 7 years old).
Anybody out there still dealing with the after life of HUS?
I have had a few opportunties to share my daughter's experience with KLOVE radio, Raising Arizona Kids and speaking to the mom's group I belong to.
I hoping to meet with a woman to help me with public speaking (I was very nervous and flush) so if I have other chances to speak with mothers of young children about this I will be more prepared.

I'm wanting to start a support group for families affected by food borne illnesses. My middle daughter at age 5 contracted E. Coli which resulted in kidney failure last year. She had to undergo kidney dialysis and many other procedures while hospitalized for a month. I feel very fortunate that she survived, but finding it difficult to find support from other families with similar experience. Anybody out there who has gone through this?

My daughter also contracted HUS in the fall of '05. She spent 34 days in the hospital, 18 days on dialysis, and a number of other difficulties. Anytime you would like to talk about life "after" let me know.
