    I am a 47 year old homemaker, who does alot of volunteer work with the elderly. My husband Don and I have 4 children: Sarah, Chris, Diana & Pat. Philosophy on life: Live each day to the fullest. Passions: Family and friends.

    Interests

    Gardening, anything done outdoors, my pets (3 dogs, 4 cats and 3 horses), walking (just rediscovered it) and flea markets on Saturday morning.

      I have always had a problem with my weight during my childhood and adult life. I was always the one standing on the side lines looking in. On Jan 26, I stepped on the scales and cried, for I was almost 300 lbs. On Jan 29, I changed all of that. I started counting every calorie and exercising. The first week I lost 9 lbs and since then a total of 22. I am now going to Curves and on my way to a new me.

      Treatments

      Atkins Diet Not Working
      Dr. advised me to stop. I have low blood sugar and it was making it drop really low.
      Avoid Certain Foods / Chemicals Working / Worked
      Have cut out most white foods: sugar, potatoes, rice (use brown), pasta (use wheat) and white bread (whole grain). Have cut out all fried food.
      Eating Healthier Foods Working / Worked
      Have learned to eat less and to eat slower. Weigh and measure everything. No more frying food. I sautee every thing in Extra Virgin Olive Oil.
      Eat Less Working / Worked
      This was my biggest enemy, large portions (besides Mt. Dew). I have learned to portion out everything.
      Weight Watchers Not Working
      Tried going to WW years ago, got tired to keeping up with the points. Will add I now count all calories and the frozen WW meals are great for on the go.
      Best Life Diet Working / Worked
      I was watching Oprah one day and Bob Greene was on. Afterwards I checked the web site out and decided I could live with the changes described.

      I have always been over weight and I have recently topped the scales at nearly 300 lbs. Jan 29, made the decision to change this. Have lost 22 lbs so far, with the help of eating a healthy diet, no sodas and exercise. Am now looking for extra support besides my loving family.

      Treatments

      Physical Exercise Working / Worked
      I use resistance ropes and bands and sit ups at home. I walk 2-3 miles/3-4 days per week. Just joined Curves 3/7/07 and love it.
      Best Life Diet Working / Worked
      Have used Bob Greene's out line for my diet and it is working for me. Takes some getting used to, for I have to eat 3 and 2 snacks.
