Close Trigeminal Neuralgia
I have had TN, atypical facial pain for almost 30 years. I have had 11 brain surgeries, narcotics, hypnotherapy, acupuncture, TENS and more. I have written a book on my experience, A PAINED LIFE, a chronic pain journey. Google it and you can read the first chapter online.
Close Chronic Pain
I have had trigeminal neuralgia and atypical facial pain since 1977. I am also the author of A PAINED LIFE, a chronic pain journey, the first and only book written by a pain patient about living with and struggling against trigeminal neuralgia and then chronic pain.
Treatments
- Acupressure Not Working
- very painful, by anaesthesiologist who may not have really known how to do it.
- Cymbalta Not Working
- bad side effects I no longer recall but stopped it after 2 days.
- Lyrica Not Working
- again bad side effects so did not continue
- Methadone Not Working
- Did not help. Was given in hosp. and the doc referred me to another whom he said would write the scripts. That doctor refused and gave me no info on how to stop it. Of all the narcs I have taken, including opium, this was only one I had dependency with after only 2 weeks.
- Morphine Not Working
- did not help
- Nerve Blocks Not Working
- did not help. also used to determine if surgery would.
- Neurontin Working / Worked
- been on it for many, many years. Stopped the spontaneous 'tics' I get (from a pained numbness or naesthesia dolorosa) as I no longer have the tn 'tics'
- TENS Not Working
- TENS did nothing but have implanted brain stimulator whihc has helped some
