      I am a 24 y/o nurse who has been living with PCOS for 7 years now and TTC for 18 months. I am surrounded everyday by mothers and their newborn babies as I work on a labor unit. I have been on and off various birth controls for the better part of a decade and live in fear that nothing I've done, since discovering my reproductive equipment is faulty, has made any difference. Each month that goes by without those two happy pink lines I yield to more and more depression.

      Treatments

      Basal Thermometer Somewhat Helpful
      Told me pretty much what I already knew...no happy little eggs floating about.
      Clomid Somewhat Helpful
      Supposed ovulation x3 but no baby.
      Crying Somewhat Helpful
      I need to have a break down about once/month to keep sane
      Folic Acid Somewhat Helpful
      I don't know if you can really say it works for anything at this stage, but Im taking it. Its only supposed to help once conception has occurred so I dont really consider this a treatment
      Metformin Too Soon to Tell
      Just starting on the met FINALLY, no nasty side effects yet and I am hopeful.
      Ovulation Predictor Kit Not Working
      They apparently do not work with PCOS, I would get 3 or so false positivs/month

      I am a 24 year old newlywed who has been living with PCOS for 7 years now. I am surrounded everyday by mothers and their newborn babies as I work on a labor unit. Feeling more hopeful now that things are on track.

      Aldactone Somewhat Helpful
      meh, didn't like it too much and only made the hair softer, didn't get rid of it
      Clomid Somewhat Helpful
      supposed ovulation x3 but no babies
      Depo-Provera Not Working
      this was horrible, i had break through bleeding for 4 months straight, gained 15 lbs and had awful acne, plus now its shown to have links to breast cancer with prolonged use
      Metformin Working / Worked
      love it so far regulating cycles, but i'll love it more when it helps me have a baby
      Oral Contraceptives Working / Worked
      worked like magic when all i wanted was to be regular...
      Vaniqa Not Working
      awful, it did absolutely NOTHING

    • Open Military Families

      I've been married to my Airman for over a year now though we've been together 7 years. We are currently stationed at MacDill AFB Florida and loving the move (as we were previously in Louisiana and from NJ) We've been trying for our first baby for more than a year now and have faith that it will be any month now. He is from a military family and I am not so the transition for me was odd to say the least.
