Hi Janet I read your post and wanted to see how your doing I have sarcod. in my liver and eyes and have had it for 23 yrs Hugs..Caroline
Janet, I felt so much like you do about a year and a half ago when I was diagnosed. My need for info was huge! There are several websites that are very helpful, and I found that the mayo clinic site was the best to start out with. Also, read the discussions in our group and nose around on some members profiles. Read journals, and everything you can. Regarding exercise, start small. Do you have a pulmonologist? Ask him if there's a pulmonary rehab program nearby. They would get you started on an exercise program designed just for you, and also teach you so much about this disease. Everybody's experience is a little different, but we can learn a lot from our friends. So as you surf around the DS site, pick out a few people and send them a hug, and ask them to also be your friend. The more the merrier. Anyway, I'm rambling. I hope you'll have a good day tomorrow. Take care! Hugs, Sue
Hi Janet, and welcome to DS! I read your journal, and can really relate. Having the COPD diagnosis was such a shocking change for me, too. I used to be the exec director of a non-profit, and worked myself too hard. But I have to take care of myself now, and you do too. Please let me know if there's anything I can help you with. Hoping tomorrow's a better day. Hugs, Sue
Over the last 3-4 years,I have been experiencing asthma symptoms and consequently treated by a phyisican. I was upgraded to "severe" asthma in addition to being diagnosed with COPD (I failed to mention that I have sarcoid as well). I am running with a full deck of respiratory malfunctions and trying to get help to learn more about each of them. I am now at home with 24/7 oxygen. Informtion makes me feel much better. Being in the dark and not knowing what's in store for me is nerve wrecking.
I was first diagnosed about 15 years ago (lungs). I never got a lot of information about it. Lately with my new dx. (COPD) it has resurfaced. It had been in remission I guess. It started out feeling uncomfortable and pain waking me from sleep. After a million test, never a biopsy, that's what they said. I don't know any more than that really. Can someone help me to understand more?
I am a 47y.o. mother of four recently dx. w/COPD. Have had asthma upgraded to severe. Hospitalized 3 times this year, first ever. Seem to be all going south at the same time. Sarcoid as well. New to treatment. Your note helped me to understand which med is for what. My doc seems to be hurried most visits and I can't seem to remember any questions at the time. just starting to take a more active part in the process, I am seeking info. from every source possible. What is a bronchodialator?
