    About Me

I am very fortunate 54 yearold woman who found true love at 45 and have 3 beautiful grown daughters. I am a Registered Nurse working with the Developmentally Disabled population. My spouse and I love camping, nature, and taking care of ourselves physically and emotionally so we may have many years ahead. I've had HepC for over 30 years, and tx failed, but my life is better than ever. Every day and every person is a gift.

    • Close Hepatitis C

Diagnosed last June with Hep C genotype 1A,viral load almost 2 million, biopsy Stage2 scarring. Did 5mos pegylated interferon and ribavirin bringing viral load to 6000, but still discontinued as not to zero. Great hepatologist and actually feel better now than in many yrs. Lucky to have wonderful loving partner and 3 great daughters. This is my first time reaching out to others with Hep C and I look forward to sharing with all of you.

      Treatments

      Interferon, pegylated Somewhat Helpful
Took it for 5 months in combination with ribavirin. Very rough going witht he side effects - I think I had them all. Viral load went from 1.9 million to 600, but still discontinued as didn't get to zero.
      Ribavarin Somewhat Helpful
Combined with pegylated interferon for 5 months. Rough side effects. Took viral load way down, but not to zero. Worth it though - liver got a good break from high virus count.
