    About Me

I am a 53 year old mother of 4 married children with 6 grandchildren. I have a fulltime job as a medical receptionist in OBGYN. I love my job and the people I work with. In Jan of this year I had to go on full disability for a couple of months and now I work 4 hours a day. The reason is below.

    Interests

I am a Christian and love to go to Church, read Christian novels, see entertaining, romantic and movies and musicals. I love to camp-in our trailer- and be outdoors. I like to hike when I can. I am crazy about cats and collect anything catish-inlcuding "hello kitty" stuff.

Hey, glad to hear from you! Congrats on the 22nd anniversary...this day in age, it is so nice to know others who are happily married, and really enjoy thier spouses. Now is the best time of our lives...except for this little side event called Hep C! LOL What meds did they cut back on for you? I reduced my riba by one pill, so takeing 1000mg instead of 1200mg. Still waiting to feel a bit better. Well take care, I am glad you had a good camping trip. We are going to Mammoth the first week of August...looking forward to it...one more thing to check off my list that gets me closer to being finished! Have a wonderful week, and give that hubby of yours an extra hug-I am sure he deserves it :)

I am glad you had a good time camping. It is so odd how our normal activities can really put a huge dent in our energy level. It is true, we seem to have enough to get the things done that we have to. I have learned to make a to do list, but if I only get one or two things done, then that is a good day. As my daughter reminded me, when this is over, I will have lots of time to make up for the things I feel I missed out on. We will all get through this one way or the other. Keep putting your self at the top of your list! You have to take care of you first, then everyone else as energy allows. I hope you have a great rest of the week! God Bless, Barbara

You know it is good to have a place like this to share. I agree, it does take some time to keep in touch with others here. I am picky on who I really count as my friends. Picky in that, I don't like to be around negative people, especially ones who seem to hate their spouses, and use the disease to be miserable to others. I do know sometimes, God draws us to others for reasons we may not know. I just know what helps me to get through this. I do have a wonderful husband, and family, but really people here can totally relate to us more then any one in our family. This disease really effects your thinking....brain fog as it is called. I suffered for years trying to keep track of things when working full time. I had sticky notes all over, outlook reminders, and I always kept a spiral steno book with notes from phone calls and meetings. If asked a question, I could always refere back to my notes. Don't be so hard on your self. It does help alot to be able to download with others here who know exactly what you are going through. I am so bummed you are not able to see your grandkids as much as you would like. I do know that can certainly happen. I know I see most of my grandkids fairly regularly, and I can understand your pain regarding that issue. I don't understand how someone can be so one sided with the kids.... I know exactly where you are now. We were just up that way for a wedding last year. We have a nephew and good friends who live in Petaluma. My brother lived in Aptos for years, he just moved to Reno last year. Santa Cruz is so beautiful. I am glad you are agoing to get out camping too! There is just something about getting away from the house and the to do lists, and just enjoying the fresh air, and admiring all of God's creations. I hope you have a wonderful time. Keep in touch, I will be here for you when ever you need. God Bless, Barbara

    • Close Hepatitis C

I have been battling liver inflammation for approximately 10 years. It was just about 3-4 years ago that I had a liver biopsy and was dianosed with hepatitis. I had Epstien-Barr about 21 years ago and from what I've read it can trigger autoimmune hepatitis, although, my dr disagrees with that. About 4 years ago I was diagnosed with hypothyroidism. And about 25 years ago I was dianosed with irritable bowel syndrome. This last January we found out that my pituitary gland does not work and is not sending messages to my adrenal gland. So I am on medication to replace the hormones I am not producing on my own. Medically, I am still not stable but able to work parttime now. Yesterday I was also diagnosed with an incisional hernia that will be removed next month. Then I will be out of work again fulltime for the month of June at least. I was told by the life coach at work to talk to a counselor and journal. I have unable to really get into doing either of those things yet, but then I thought a support group might be more helpful than talking to a counselor. So here I am.
