About Me
I am a 61-yr-old grandmother, who just happens to have Parkinson Disease. I've had PD for 8+ years, or at least that was when it was diagnosed. I have had the DBS surgery, and I now have the Deep Brain Stimulators (DBS) for both sides of my brain. Three years ago, I had an adverse reaction to the fact that both of my stimulators had been put in without having a MRI after the surgery to make sure they were in the right spots in my brain. At any rate, I couldn't swallow, talk or walk, and I had a tube going right to my stomach, with a bottle of liquid food going right to my stomach. I lost 70+ pounds over the course of 3 months that I was in a nursing home. Fun, it wasn't.
Interests
Now I'm working on starting an internet Business. I'll be sure and let you all know when I am up & running. Interested in knitting and crocheting. When I was 20 years young, I found some crochet flowers in one of my grandmother's magazines. They were easy and fun to work. So, now I'm looking for more patterns. Anyone know of any? If I could just remember which magazine, I could write to them and possibly get a copy of the directions. Oh well.

Close Parkinson's Disease
I just did tell you my story, but I can expand on it now. Anyhow, last June, I had the devil stimulators taken out, and two new wires put in. This time a MRI was done before the surgery, and another was done after surgery. And, guess what? Both wires are just exactly where they belong! My stimulators are now set quite low, but high enough to take care of my PD. This terriffic surgery was done by two doctors at Univ. of NC in Chapel Hill. I will have foot surgery on the 29th of May, to correct the problem that's been responsible for my not being able to walk. Talking is no longer a problem for me, except that I don't do enough of it. And, now I can swallow anything I put in my mouth!
