    About Me

On disability for depression and anxiety since Dec. 2000; also dealing with chronic fatigue and fibromyalgia since 2005. Been back at the parents since April of '07, but I've finally had enough. Seeking to escape to the sun (and, hopefully, FUN) before this next winter.

A very happy day to you! I hope it’s filled with activities that bring you some joy. One of my passions is taking “movies” while diving and I was lucky enough to snorkel Jellyfish Lake in Palau where you can swim with jellyfish that don’t sting! Here’s a short video of the adventure: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gl6...

    • Close Depression
      Type: Clinical (Major) Depression

On disability for major dep/anxiety since Dec 2000; chronic fatigue since 2005. Just confirmed that original problem was problem adrenal burnout; not psychiatric. Been in Buffalo AGAIN for a little over a year, at the parents, though it's really taking its toll (no support for ME from anybody). Need to leave before next winter due to a serious case of Seasonal Affective Disorder, but haven't the slightest idea where to go since in the past, people have either bailed on me, or have been mean.

      Treatments

      Cognitive Behavioral Therapy Somewhat Helpful
Short-term solution only. You can't change how OTHERS treat you.
      Cymbalta Somewhat Helpful
Back on but not everyday due to brain fog. Needed for pain relief and mood uplift.
      Effexor Not Working
This one was okay AT FIRST, but after awhile, I started to 'grunt' (very odd), and do other strange things. Thus, it ended up in the trash!
      Lexapro Not Working
More drugs doesn't make up for the fact people IGNORE you!
      Positive Thinking Not Working
Only goes SO far...when life keep throwing you negativity, there's a limit to the positive thinking one can have.
      Prozac Working / Worked
WAS helpful but I got a little manicky AND ate lots of sugar!
      Psychotherapy Somewhat Helpful
Helped ME but not how OTHERS treat me (and no, I don't react to them anymore...at least I learned how to do that with all that money spent in the past on counseling!)
      Strattera Not Working
Didn't do squat for concentration/memory. Just made me spacey!
Support from Friends & Family Not Working
Doesn't work because I don't get it from anyone.
      Wellbutrin Somewhat Helpful
Back on because I couldn't think worth crap.
      Zoloft Not Working
Stopped; too much brain fog, ate too many sweets. If you're afraid of weight gain, do NOT take this.
    • Close Chronic Fatigue Syndrome

Chronic fatigue since 2005. Looking for supportive person/people in coastal town to chat with (planning to relocate permanently before next winter since I need sun and warmth year round!) Have had NO family support at all.

    • Open Anxiety

Panic attacks first appeared in 1989...then reappeared in 1997. Stopped soon after but turned into generalized anxiety.

      Treatments

      Massage Somewhat Helpful
      BUT is too expensive!
      BuSpar Not Working
      Didn't do squat.
      Ativan Somewhat Helpful
      Stopped due to addictive side-effect.
      Zoloft Somewhat Helpful
Works during PMS, HOWEVER to take more than a week causing brain to be way too foggy; huge loss of concentration and memory.
    • Open Chronic Pain

Whiplash injury; lower back pain; new joint pain and swelling problem.

      Treatments

      Chiropractic Adjustment Somewhat Helpful
      Heat Somewhat Helpful
      Ice Pack Working / Worked
I live with these all day and all night long!
      Naproxen Somewhat Helpful
BUT can no longer take due to colitis flare-up a year ago.
      Darvon Somewhat Helpful
Take occasionally to be able to sleep with the pain but it doesnt take it all away.
    • Open Fibromyalgia

Diagnosed with CFS/Fibro May 2005 after burning out of software career and 4 car accidents (only 2 my fault; honest!) Took Advil for well over 5 years daily but had to stop in July 2006 due to colitis development. Went to renowned Cleveland Clinic where I was rx'd major VIT D which helps very minimally. RH factor normal but inflammation marker way off the charts. Considering FibroandFatigue clinic IVs again (vits and pain) since I can't stomach anything else anymore, but closest is 4 hrs away.

      Treatments

      5-HTP Not Working
In supplement from FibroandFatigue center. Too many supplements from them upset my stomach so I stopped them all.
      Aqua Therapy Working / Worked
Love it, BUT it's a long drive to facility and not enough is covered by insurance; need everyday but parents, who I live with, won't let me put one in!
      Cymbalta Somewhat Helpful
Had to stop due to brain fog and constipation problem, plus weight gain.
      Guaifenesin Not Working
      Made me very depressed.
      Heat Somewhat Helpful
Occasionally helps. ICE is MUCH better, but relief is temporary.
      TENS Somewhat Helpful
But again, is only covered minimally by insurance.
      Ultram Not Working
      Doesn't do crap; is constipating.
