Journal Entry for May 12, 2008 Mood
Monday, May 12, 2008 | A General Update story

I got MM in fall of 2004 when I was 48.  I was diagnosed in spring of 2005 and had 2 stem cell transplants by 6/06.  I was in remission for 1 year and in summer of 2007 began taking Revlimid.   I am now taking 15mg of Revlimid (21 day cycle)and 40mg of decadron one day a week.  My MM numbers are very low right now.  But it's a month to month thing since I see my doctor every month with lab work.  I was a teacher for 25 years and am on retirement disability right now.  I doubt I will return to work since I had several fractured vertebrae in my back and there is a constant concern of back pain and I need to be  careful not to hurt my back.

God has been my strength and when I first got sick I felt:  He created me and He will call me home when He see's fit.  He has given me almost 4 years with this disease and I appreciate everyone of them. My husband, family, friends and church have been a great help and encouragement during this time.  You just kind of keep plugging along at life and deal with the curve balls that are sent your way.  We have an American Eskimo dog that I walk most everyday.  He is a joy.  No kids.  Life is good and I give all the glory to God.
