The weekend is here!

 

I wish I actually felt that good about it. Today at work a bunch of people went out to lunch. I declined the invitation because I had work to finish -- at least that's what I told myself. I really should go to these events. It would help me socially and with my work relationships. I was invited out with some of the people in Marketing next week for dinner in the city. That's more stress with the dealling with the train into the city and finding a restaurant I've never been to before.  Maybe I'll suck it up and just do it -- maybe not, we'll see. 

 

I have my second meeting with the social anxiety meetup on Sunday. I am actually looking forward to that. In this meeting we will be focusing on goals. (Maybe I should make a goal to eat out with people more!)

    Have you seen the Eddie Murphy movie, Delirious (I think)? "get out .... geeeeetttttt ouuuuuutttttttt" :)

    My counsellor recently recommended to me that I try to take every opportunity I can to get out of the house. A walk, a lunch, whatever - anything to stop me from hiding at home and dwelling on my thoughts with a self-help book. Too much isolation is bad for the psyche.

    Sometimes good things come when you're not looking for them. Go for it, my friend! Give it a shot! Maybe you can use it as practice for some of the things you're learning about how to deal with social anxiety.

    I wish you every success, big or small.
