I have my 1st after-treatment checkup tomorrow and another on the 19th. I'll let you know what they say.

Close Head and Neck cancers
Type: OtherI have Tonsilar cancer (duh cancer of the tonsils) LOL I had a small lump I thought was an infected lymph node . . turns out it was cancer and it got bigger. They finally decided to biopsy and I had one tonsil that had become a tumor. I had no other syptoms. I've been asked by 23 doctors if I smoke. I never did so I'm in the 8% of the happy people who get this cancer for no reason! If you'll notice, they don't even have "Tonsil cancer" in the list here in this site. It's fun bein unique!
Treatments
- Chemotherapy Working / Worked
- So far so good. 1 more treatment to go... the prognosis so far is very optimistic.

- So far so good. 7 more treatments to go... the prognosis so far is very optimistic. Radiation is no fun. I'm doing it anyway even though they found no further signs the doctors say my chances of complete recovery greatly increase with radiation/chemo. They better be right, since now I can type but not speak. I have burns inside and outside my mouth and neck The worst thing is my taste has been ruined... they said I might lose my sense of taste for a while and I realy wish that would happen.
- Surgery Working / Worked
- I've had 2 surgeries one to reove the tonsil (which sucks when you're 50!) and a little thing called a neck disection. And believe me it makes the tonsilectomy feel like the sniffles! The two surgeries were both followed with biopsies which found nothing at all. Since they took out 33 lymph nodes and assorted musce tissue, I'm inclined to agree that there is no cancer.
