I had gastric bypass surgery last year in November. I am almost 6 months post-op starting at 278.9 and currently weigh 201.6 I have recently started exercising on an eliptical machine I bought because the weight loss is drastically slowing down. I want to boost my metabolism to keep losing at an accelerated rate. I have been overweight my entire adult life after being slim all through high school. I felt very inhibited by my weight and some others were not very nice to me about the excess weight including my ex-husband. I don't understand other people's aversion to my weight, even other overweight people sometimes tend to be judgemental, especially if you are more overweight than they are. Oh well, I am now on my way to a newer, thinner, more happier me and I am excited. I worry a little about the excess skin and if the subsequent skin surgery will be more painful than other surgeries I have had in the past. I joined this forum to discuss with others what they are going through and the challenges they faced with their surgery, recovery and weight-loss. I am remarried and have a 22 year-old-daughter and two dogs. One is a maltese and the other a yorkie.
I love to read, especially Dean Koontz. I make bead jewelry, mostly earrings. I love photography and as an aside from that love to scrapbook too! My husband loves to garden and we hope to have lots of vegetables we can put up.

I have been overweight my entire adult life. I kept gaining as I was very unhappy in my marriage and I was in a vicious cycle of eating and being unhappy. I became diabetic, with hypothyroidism and hypertension. I had problems sleeping and was just plain miserable. My kidney specialist told me that if I didn't lose weight I would probably lose a leg to amputation due to diabetic neuropathy, so I took the plunge. I had gastric bypass surgery on November 16th of last year.
I have been overweight for 30 years. Losing and gaining, waxing and waning, eating more and exercising less and less. Developed diabetes, hypertension, and hypothyroidism. Had to do something drastic, so I scheduled gastric bypass surgery.
Trying to eat healthier since GBS in Nov. 2007.
I love yorkies. December 19th, 2002, my three yorkies (Chester, Toto and Pixie) were murdered by my manic, bi-polar ex-husband and I still grieve their loss every day.
I am 8 1/2 months post op. I am planning on at least a tummy tuck (panniculectomy) at 18 months out. I started at 278.9 and am down to 181, have 31 to go to get to goal.
