I am a caregiver to my long term, 9 year,partner who was recently diagnosed with advanced lung to brain cancer.

Treatments

Chemotherapy Working / Worked

His chemo therapy seems to be going well. No really bad reactions after cycle 2. Just finished Cycle 3 and Jimmy's formerly great appetite is diminishing. This is not too good, but very comman during chemo I suppose.

Radiotherapy Working / Worked

Yes... the 10 days of radiation (whole brain) seems to have worked very well. We just got word today that the repeat scans and MRI showed a 70% reduction in the size of the tumors! It was the most wonderful news we could have received!

Talking Working / Worked

Yes. I feel that I am doing better with expressing my fears and frustrations. Now it is just "part of my life." Taking the focus off of the cancer and onto other life events helps. However, when the disease is initially diagnosed, you have no other choice. It is so difficult.

Writing Working / Worked

I have started a journal on this website. I keep most of the entries private. Perhaps I will feel better sharing them with everyone down the road, but thus far, I prefer to just "ramble" alone!

Close Family & Friends of Cancer Patients

My long-term significant other was diagnosed with lung to brain cancer about 8 weeks ago. I have been his caregiver 24/7 since that time. He has two grown children but they live in different parts of the country. It is very difficult to do everything that is required of me. I feel that I don't get enough support with my needs. He had full brain radiation and is now going through chemo. On May 20th, I believe, they will re-do the scans. I am hoping and praying that they have worked!
