About Me:
I'm a 25 year old single mom of a special-needs 2 year old boy, and a full time college student. I also work full time, so I'm pretty exhausted and stressed out most of the time. It's hard not to take all that stress and focus it on a single issue like weight, as a way of escaping, but I'm determined to be healthy for myself and for my son.

 Eating Disorders
  Anorexia
I've struggled with body dysmorphia and eating disorders since I was 11. I'm in yet another recovery attempt. I just want to be healthy and happy with a normal body size. I've had anorexia most recently. I was losing the baby weight and just kept going. In the past I've also struggled with compulsive over eating and with bulimia though, so I've definitely tried everything before.

 Parenting Toddlers (1-3)
I'm a single mom of a late-talking *extremely* bright 2-year-old boy. We have no family support from either my family or my ex-husband's so it is just the two of us.
Treatments
 Attachment Parenting (Working / Worked)
Co-sleeping, breastfed till 18 months (through oversupply, undersupply, thrush, mastitis, plugged ducts, milk blisters, food allergies, GERD - you name it), also wore my son in a sling. I take him with me to work and spend almost all day every day with him. He is my best friend.
 Education (School) (Working / Worked)
My son sees an early interventionist for attention span and focus and a speech therapist. During my college semester he is in preschool, but I'm hoping to put him in family child care in the Fall.
 Patience (Somewhat Helpful)
Patience is a virtue, but acquiring it seems to involve going through frustration! It's been more difficult the last few months as the "twos" have really kicked in
 Positive Reinforcement (Working / Worked)
I try to involve my son in everyday decisions, from which cereal to get at the store (I only give him two options) to whether we eat dinner first or have bath first. Even though he is largely non-verbal, this gives us both an opportunity to know what he wants without getting stuck in a yes/no battle
 Walking (Working / Worked)
We walk anywhere from 45 minutes to 3 hours a day. It tires him out and its just about the only thing that does. Also its amazing how many things a toddler notices that I would pass right by. It helps us both unwind and keeps us away from the tv

 Depression
  Clinical (Major) Depression
History of trauma and abuse. Bad childhood, bad marriage. Recently had to file an injunction for protection against the ex-husband and fell into PTSD/Major Depression following.
Treatments
 Celexa (Too Soon To Tell)
Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (Too Soon To Tell)
 Psychotherapy (Too Soon To Tell)
But I am very hopeful
Support from Friends & Family (Somewhat Helpful)
Zero family support. In fact, my mother threw out my two year old and myself because I didn't "snap out of" my depression "fast enough". But my friends have been amazing.
 Writing (Working / Worked)
Definitely helpful. I try to keep a "gratitude list" when I feel especially down. If I can just come up with ten (hopefully unique) things to be grateful for each day, I find it helps me shift my focus more positively.
