Preparations cont\'d >>>>>>>>>
Wow, two weeks from now I shall be on a bus half way to Niagara Falls, and Sr. Maggie (or Mags) or just Sr. she …
This is an interuption in the ongoing preparations that I've been relating... Sr. Maggie, has 6 cats and has reminded me of the recent pet food recall.....she fears that pretty much all of Suki's symptoms are in keeping with those reported from the recalled foods. Suki & Cricket have been on Iams dry cat food, and it seems it was among those recalled ! This may be too late to help anyone else, but I needed to vent! I also want to find out what is safe in Canada, so I can get both him and Cricket onto something safe! I would be interested in hearing what precautions any of you have taken to protect your pets from a repeat of this atrosity!?! ![]()
As far as preparations for the trip, the most exciting part is on Sr. Maggies profile page with pictures of where we are staying in Niagara Falls. She will be posting our B&B in Midland as well as soon as it is booked and sure. My preps involve cleaning the frig & stove, so not nearly as exciting, but needful all the same !!!!
Tomorrow I hope to have happier news to report.................!

Well it is now 17 days until Sr. Maggie is here and begins 'the visit', as I've come to think of it! …
MY SUKI IS GONE
OMG! That recall was awhile ago... We don't use Iams, none of our pets ever liked it. But there were other brands in the recall too Carol, you might check those old headlines out. The melamine (I think) that was in the food is fatal to the animals. Sending major Weeble Hugs and Mojo to you and Suki... And Koko too.

Hope that you can get it all sorted soon and if it is the food then maybe it is not too late...............
Hope not.

oh no!thats dreadful.I wonder how many pets have been affected by this food??
our two wont touch it thank goodness ,but its still on sale over here in all the supermarkets ,i only saw it today ,when we brought summer and bella`s rations for the week!!they are very different in their likes and dislikes ,summer will eat mainly wet food ,and it has to be the best .here thats felix asgail???it does smell much better i must say ,than any other she has tried ,so cant blame her for refusing the rest!!
little munchkin eats almost anything!but is on wiskers ,do u have that over there?shes so far ,kept good health on it ,and of course drinks plenty too.
hope you can sort out your problem and enjoy your break without worry.
love and gentle hugs to you and suki ,sharon xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx

I have to admit that it has a whole lot of feelings churning, and not the nice kind. I don't follow politics much but am being told that the processing of some component of pet foods is processed in China, and that this was some sort of chemical revenge for perceived wrongs!!!! And then the payback is seen in their recent misfortune! That's where it gets beyond my ability to understand. I just look at my blind, sick (so sick) faithful little friend and I weep! So have to admit it's taking some work to stay excited about all the festivities!

The chemical they put into the food was one that cost less but give the result of appearing to have a higher protein level in the chemical analysis... pure greed. I am so sorry Carol, if this is what happened to poor Suki... it is criminal and very maddening. We had the same worries about our dog for months b/c he was vomiting all over the place. I ended up only feeding him food I made for a good long while until we found a food that seemed safe that he would eat. I don't give him canned anymore, and I am still not sure if it was the texture of the canned, or if he was being poisoned by the food. It was and is infuriating and heartbreaking.
You do have some fun times ahead, and I would love to see you enjoy them for what they are... but I know it's hard with this weighing on your mind. Maybe you will find a way to give this to God and take a deep breath... do what you can now which all one can ever do. All the rest is regret and worrisome planning... Big hugs to you, Carol.... deep breath....

Sis,Quazar had some of the dog food here that was recalled. He also was sick and I had to have him checked at the vet.As the recall list grew I grew more and more irate.I've wondered since then just how safe our pet food really is.
