Glory House Restoration Program
INSTRUCTIONS FOR ACCEPTANCE INTO THE PROGRAM
If you wish to be accepted into the Glory House Restoration Program, there are some things we would like you to take care of before you enter Glory House.
1. Due to current space limitations in our program, you may have to be put on a waiting list if our program is full at the time of your acceptance.
If you are accepted into the program and are put on the waiting list, you must contact Glory House every week to let us know you are still interested. You may leave a message if no one is available, but you need to make sure you call. Otherwise you will be dropped off the list because we will assume you are no longer interested. The number for you to call is (918) 584-1808.
2. If you smoke, you must quit before you come into the program. Quit Now is a program that will help. Call them at 1 800 784 8669. They are available from Sunday to Saturday from 7 a.m. until 11 p.m.
3. You need to have a current TB test before you can come into Glory House. This is a health department requirement. The Tulsa Health Department (among others) does this. The number for the 15th & Yale area Public Health office is: (918) 582-9355.
4. You need to have testing for HIV, Hep C, and STDs done. H.O.P.E. does Hep C and HIV testing. Their number is (918) 749-8378. They are located at 3540 E. 31st Street in Tulsa.
5. You need to have your legal issues settled as much as possible before you come into the program. If you have a parole or probation officer, make sure you provide Glory House with contact information for them. We need to know what is required of you from the courts or probation department during the time you are at Glory House prior to your acceptance into the program: drug testing, court dates, visits to your probation/parole officer, etc.
It is important that you let the court having jurisdiction over you know that you will not be working until after you complete the six- month program. You must make arrangements to pay your fines after you begin working. Also, your community service hours will need to be taken care of within that same timeframe – after you complete our program.
6. You need to have medical issues settled/taken care of before you come into the program. If you have a pre-existing medical condition, you need to understand that if your condition worsens to the point that you cannot participate in the program, we will have to re-evaluate your continuing in the program.
Our position is that we only deal with emergency medical situations during your probationary period (first 30 days in the program). If you need to take medication, you must have a three-month supply of what you need prior to entering Glory House. Prescription meds must be in the original container. Sample medication is acceptable; however, you must have a valid prescription for all medication (other than over the counter meds) you bring into Glory House.
7. You need to have your financial issues taken care of before you come into Glory House. During the last phase, we can have you meet with a credit counselor to help you set up a budget.
8. You will not be allowed to have a computer or cell phone during your stay at Glory House.
9. Due to space limitations in the residents’ rooms, clothing items brought in must be limited to the following: 10 pair of shoes, 20 hangars of clothing, 2 purses. You may bring in personal care items such as hair dryer, curling iron, etc.
10. You need to have sponsorship of $200 per month in place before you enter the program. This will help defray the approximate cost of $1,000 per month for each resident.
If you have questions, call us 584-1808; the fax line is (918) 583-2360. Our mailing address is P.O. Box 50754, Tulsa, Oklahoma 74150.
while i'm not thrilled about having to get tested for STD's (i'm not a fan of "girly" exams...they cause major flashback...), i guess i'll have to suck it up and do it... i did it for mercy... the only problem i can forsee has to do with my meds... with my insurance, i don't think i can get a 3 month supply of my meds at one time. something to look into, i suppose...
i just e-mailed mary anne back, so i'll let you know when i hear back from her again...
thats good news, and just to let you know your dr. can write the dx for an override that is what mine did. Anyway thats great news you are on your way!
