First appointment Mood
Friday, May 16, 2008 | A Venting story

As titled, today was my first appointment with psychiatrist. I was expected to see a male military officer to be probing my past and diagnosing me  with realing listening. To my surprise, I got a female civilian doctor. Too early to tell if I like her or not, but I'm leaning towards not. She didn't really introduce herself and present her credentials, for all I know was  talking to a person who earned her degree online. She started with what I wanted out of today's session. Did you not read the suicide ideation report? Did you even prep for my arrival? I don't think she even knew what my illness was. So I told that I was bipolar, and thank god I was smart enough to bring my medical record with me. She asked when I was first diagnosed, and I went to the past entries. She asked the general questions: medication, relationships, work, stress, other symptoms, behavior, family, history, etc. One of these days, I think I'll write my own report so when I get ask the same repetitive answers I can just show them the document. I told her the trileptal was crap and I want to switch and may need to be placed on antidepressant. Trileptal was not a mood stabilizer more like a volumizer, I still had mood swings they just never swung to extreme. I explain me as maniac and a depresse bore. I also suggested to see a shrink and maybe attend groups. Psych only seat behind a desk, ask questions and type while you're talking, what the fuck ever happened to a tape recorder? I can't concentrate on what I'm saying, let alone open and talk to you while I hear your fingers drill keys 90mph. In the I'm slowly being taken off trileptal and moving over to lactimal, fingers crossed (though not tight, my skin my fall off).
