The saga continues.... we were going to visit my parents last weekend (6/13/08) (whom we haven't seen since Mom broke her hip) and were about 40 minutes from home, when there was a weird bumping from the rear of the van, so the hubby pulls over, thinking maybe a tire is going flat. Checked the air in the tires, it's good, so we keep going. Five minutes later it happens again, only much worse. So we pull off the highway (two lanes, hwy 88 near Lodi, CA). Hubby calls the place where the tires were rotated the previous week, they had him check the lugnuts and a few other things. We called AAA, and had it towed back to the shop.
To make a long story short, there was still a lot of tread on the tires, but they were 4 years old, and the heat of summer and cold in winter had affected the rubber. The tread would have completely come off if we had kept going, and that would have caused an accident, probably of major proportions and serious injury or death. $400 later, 4 new tires, and God willing we will leave tomorrow to see my parents, accompanied by the daughter's boyfriend so she won't be bored.
Last weekend, there were some fires in Amador County, and I think 2 or 3 homes burned. We could see the smoke on the way home in the tow truck. So, I will count my blessings, and count on the fact that "Life isn't about how to survive the storm...but how to dance in the rain."
Today is my daughter's "golden" birthday as she calls it. She turns 19 on the 19th.
