Babysitting Mood
Wednesday, July 23, 2008

We're babysitting.  I had some anxiety holding 3 month old Thomas while we were outside.  He was clearly tired and was crying and Judd was beside himself so I put him in the special hold and he finally fell asleep.  Then I had a hot baby on me.  I just transferred him to his pack and play so that's one down.  The other two are playing together nicely.  Babies are so high maintenance.

Today Kate and I put together a book with with the pictures and cards from their retirement party.  It came out looking pretty nice.  I put 53 pictures in it with picture corners, so thats 212 picture corners I stuck down.  It took a while.  Tomorrow we'll find a place to put a binding on it.

Vacation day 4 Mood
Tuesday, July 22, 2008

Judd brought the nieces to wake me up at 9:15.  It was probably because he thought I would think it was cute and I wouldn't be mad at him for waking me up.  Judd ate cherry pie for breakfast and cherry pie for lunch.  I had fake bacon and a mocha for breakfast and am deciding on lunch.  Tonight we're going to see The Dark Knight and then have dinner and drinks with a couple friends.

We saw a bunch of friends yesterday, too.  It's nice to see everyone and not be on a schedule.  We're just hanging out, even if it is hot and muggy.

Sounds like a fantastic day, MP. Cherry pie for breakfast is my favorite. I don't know about lunch, though. Let me know how the Dark Night is! I think we may go see it in a couple weeks. We found a movie theater sort of close by that isn't so crowded or full of punk kids.

Sounds like you've downshifted into vacation mode nicely. :-) I'm interested to hear how you like the Dark Knight. All the hype has made me skeptical. I've never been a big Batman fan. He's kind of lame as a superhero. Christian Bale is a great actor though -- at least when he's not beating his family members.

Glad you're getting to relax and enjoy yourself. Is it strange to be back as a guest to a place you once lived?

Isn't MI known for cherries this time of year?

Cherries are popular in Michigan, but in Washington Rainier cherries are big. They are a little less tart and very good. We bought a little dish of them last time we were at the market in Seattle and ate them as we walked.

The Dark Knight was good. I thought maybe Heath Ledger was over hyped but he was really good. I thought it could have been a little shorter, but it held my attention and I like the new spin on all the characters.

I am eating cherries right now. Although not those fancy cherries you speak of MP...

Retirement Party Mood
Sunday, July 20, 2008

The retirement party was a huge success.  The place was set up perfectly, everyone liked the food and cake, we had about 80 people show up and Mom and Dad had a great time.  Everyone said how nice the party was, and it came in under budget!!

I'm thoroughly enjoying hanging out with the nieces.  They are talking all the time, playing pretend, walking in our shoes, just being silly.  It is so cute.  Judd's got the video camera out right now.  It'll be fun to watch when we get back home.

Today is the professional family picture.  Mom is making us lay out all our shirts to make sure they will look ok.

Sounds wonderful MP. I am sure you are having a wonderful time with the family. Your nieces sound like they would be really fun to play with. Kids crack me up. I often say to Drew it would be really hard to have kids because I would laugh at them all the time.

Awwww...the nieces sound so cute!!!! What fun! Sounds a lot like when I play with my daughter.

The retirement party sounds like a success....sounds like you have a great family! That is really nice!

Did the shirts all look ok together? ;-)

Yes, I think the shirts worked, but mom was making a pretty big deal about it. She had them all layed out on the bed. Kate brought bright colors for the kids and that was ruining everything. That's mom. I even got Judd to take a picture with just the two of us. I was in my "uniform," not an outfit I would ever pick out, but I did have makeup on which my sister recommended and we haven't been professionally photographed since our wedding, so I thought it would be nice. Kate and I never wear makeup, but then we look splochy in pictures so she has a supply of stuff for pictures. She shared and I have to admit, it does make a subtle, but noticeable difference.
