    About Me

I am on Soc.Sec.I., I have a hard time calling it "Security". Disabled since 1994 by fibromyalgia, irritable air-ways disease = chemical sensitivity and Post Traumatic Stress Disorder. I also have tag-alongs; Renaud's, metabolic syndrome, had both wrists carpal tunnel, hiatal hernia, duodenal ulcer, hypoglycemia, sever headaches, I.B.S., lactose intolerant, insomnia, depression, fatty liver, planar fasciitis, foot pain, like between bones ?, hip pain, sciatica, bulging disk, L4&5, .....Then....Dec.04' I fell and fractured T 12. (scues some spellings, I'll come back and fix later) It took 7 years from 1994 and a State Supreme Court order before I was eligible for S.S.D.. I can be called optimistically depressed. I would like to be involved in trying to make changes in how S.S.I. deals with people, any way I can. I'll come back to this thought. I believe we are made to wait while the select few tell us how we are going to feel, what we can take, or not and a lot of other related stuff that is on spin cycle in my brain right now, grins. So..anyway... in the mid 80's I was owner/operator of an investigative office that employed 2-? at any given time. I did this and loved it for 6 1/2 yrs. Then I started having larynx problems to the point I lost my voice for about a year solid. I had to shut down my business. I went to work for the census bureau updating and mapping counties until Dr's did something called scraping the vocal cords. With in a day I had a regular voice again. What a relief. I am mother of 1 grown daughter, grandmother of three and step mom to my fiances son. I have lived with my fiance for the last ten years. When his son turned 13 we got custody, now he's 19. He is my son now. He had a Steven King life before we were able to get him here with us. He still deals with attachment disorder to an extent. My man person works 10 hour days, yea days, for our first eight years he worked until one a.m. I hated living around those hours. I love music. I play guitar and write some music. I create art in many mediums. I love to cook, from scratch now so I control what goes into my food. I have the companionship of a six yr.old golden(red)retriever, two cockatiel and three cats. The two younger cats are talkers. They are also recycled pets, turned loose, found their way to my door. One of the birds I bought as a baby though. I delight in the PBS English comedies like Red Dwarf, Waiting for God, Vicar of Dibley, comedies and mysteries. Now a lot of things I love doing I am not able to do or I do in a modified way. With Fibro I hurt all the time in many areas of my body. I have suffered headaches for years.Oh, I love fishing and camping. Anything I can do out doors helps me feel better. Since I've been writing on D.S. I've loved spell check.

    Interests

X WARNING X There is no Readers Digest version on any of these pages, bring a snack, pour your preference, here I go.... I am a ferocious reader. I love reading mysteries: James Patterson's Alex Cross series, Patricia Cornwell's Kay Scarpetta series, Iris Johanson's Eve Duncan series, Sue Grafton's Alphabet series(on T now)and the Cat Who.... series. Also tear-tuggers. I am a Christian though I am not a member of any of the churches. I love Bible Study which I do with a televised study from Gravitz, (spelling?) Arkansas each a.m. When I can, "physically and seasonally" I am out in the yard, organic gardening(which I'm reading and learning about every chance I get) including yard work, at my pace and modifications. I feel better when I can be out doors. I also have many plants inside. Years ago I had about 150 house plants, now maybe 20ish. I have mostly the ones that are forgiving, when I notice they start to look like their dying, I can throw some water on them and a promise not to wait that long again and * poof * they are green and you can't tell how close they came to compost. One thing I started last year was my own herb mixes, this year I would like to try flavored vinegars and oils. Now I am going to brag on my family, since they make my world go round. I was a very independent women "since I was a kid". I grew up in the Calif. foster care system. I was a divorced, poor, poor, poor single parent. I finished high school and some collage after daughter was well into high school. So, to watch them do so well, makes me feel sooo gooood. Don't misunderstand what I am trying to say, they have all the drama everybody else has too. Daughter worked very hard in high school and got really good grades, received some scholarships, loans, worked some part time jobs and went to college, public relations and something else. She has made a career (lucrative too)working with and organizing volunteers for most anything you could imagine. I am so proud of her. She made it through a really bad marriage and now has a beautiful family and is in a loving relationship. She is very supportive of me and has really helped me navigate through the system of doctors, lawyers, and social workers. I cannot imagine being older, ill, mostly alone and dealing with everything the system has set up to "help" us. That is another soap box thing for me. My grandson, 11 yrs old, started to learn cello last year and changed to trombone. He has been playing guitar with me for a couple of years now. I love to sit and jam with him. His repertoire is growing, to my delight. I play 70-80's rock, blues, folk, swamp rock, like C.C.R.'s, old style country and christian music. Also what I have written. His favorite of mine is the one I named after his mom and one I titled chicken pickin. I have several friends who come and play from time to time. My granddaughter, 15 yrs.old, is artistic. Since she was maybe 7ish, she has been doing community theater. My daughter picked some really good activities to keep the kids busy. Granddaughter has appeared in several high school plays. For the spring play she is learning about the world of stage make-up. Last week she learned she did get an internship with our city's community playhouse..Yea ! Her other passion is drawing and painting. She has has entered several art contest and did pretty good. She has been developing a distinct style since she was 5ish. The baby just sits there being a beautiful, handsome boy. His daddy is a great guy and I really enjoy being around him. So, when I have bad days, when I am sick and hurting and/or down, with a phone call... I remember what makes my life really real, what matters. So, back to it. I also enjoy painting...things like bottles for my kitchen, burnt-out light bulbs to use for holiday decorations, landscapes, portraits. My newest interest is fabric inks. I am working it into my budget and am excited to start messing with it. I like sewing and am now looking for a pattern for, I think its spelled Sawer, next word is with a (k) or (ch)..ames I think, it's the loose-ish tunic and loose pants that the ladies of India ware, they look so comfortable. I wear the hippie styled skirts still and dashikis, big shirts and soft sweaters. These are my comfort cloths. Oh, and jeans. to be continued.......

Type of allergy: Multiple Chemical Sensitivity

In 1983 I was exposed to a bug killer that was taken off market 3 months later.Same summer I was caught in a mosquitoes foggier.I now react to everything from household cleaners:personal hygene.Paints, removers, glues, formaldahyd, herbacides, gas fumes. I live out side of town with very few friends, it's hard to get people to understand what affects me, and not use certian things for a little while, before being around me.My family likes my visits,no house cleaning for several days before ;)

      Treatments

      Nasal Irrigation Working / Worked
using a Nettie pot, I saw Dr. Oz on Oprah show doing a demo about it. It has really worked for me. I had tried flonase, Nasonex, nasacort in years past. I had tremendous headachs, nose bleeds and when they started to wear off the symptoms were worse than before. Benadryl dye free was the last thing I tried. Benadryl and avoidance when possible, makes things more barable
    • Close Fibromyalgia

I made a mistake on meds and can't seem to edit it. should read...baclofen 10mg tab. Tramadol 50mg tab 2-3 x dy. Tramadol HIC 50 or hydromorphone on bad days as needed.

      Treatments

      Aqua Therapy Working / Worked
summer of 07, we bought a 16'round-4'deep(I'm 5')easy up pool, we use it June-early Oct, big investment for us even on sale, took us until Dec. to get back in budget. We were still tweaking the chemicals to a level they can do their job and I could use the pool. That all aside I love it. I worked out almost every day, on good days several times. So much easier on me. I lost 15 lbs, found them over the winter, blah. Floating is heaven. I also took long walks around and around, beautiful scenery.
