Mother's Day Mood
Monday, May 12, 2008

I had a pretty good day yesterday.  I went to brunch with my family (daughter, parents, sister, brother-in-law, niece).  We sat there for what seemed like forever just talking and laughing.  It was great.  My daughter gave me a great card.  It had a picture of a cat on the front looking out a window and on the inside it said something like "I know you love me no matter how much trouble I get into"  My mom told her to write something sweet on the inside and you'll never guess what she wrote.  She's real ornery ok.  So her little crazy butt wrote "I love you mom no matter how annoying you are"  When I read it she just laughed and laughed.  She's so much like me it's scary.  When I go to wake her up in the morning she tells me I'm annoying or when she's playing with her friends dancing to music I'll join in and she'll just give me a look and tells me how annoying I am.  That's why it was so funny.  My mom doesn't know all this, so when she read the card she couldn't believe Abbie would write something like that.  She was kinda mad at her for it.  She apologized to me and said she told Abbie to write something sweet.  I said it was sweet in her own little way.  I loved it anyway.

When we went to church they had all the mothers stand up to be blessed.  Then they said prayers.  One of them was for the mothers who had lost children.  I burst into tears.  I couldn't help it.  I felt like such an idiot crying like that in church.   There was a woman in front of me who gave her husband a sad look when they asked the mothers to stand up and she didn't stand so I assume she can't have children and want them.  I should be grateful that I had my son for a year, right?  That woman can't even have a child and here I am whining about not having my son anymore.  Plus I still have my daughter.  I thank God for that everyday.

Anyway, for supper we went to my sisters.  She made barbecue chicken.  It was wonderful!  Her husband made some kind of potato side dish that was also delicious.  I wish I could cook as good as they do.  I was so full!  After supper we all went for a walk.  They live out in the country so it was really beatiful.  There were dogs running around and Abbie LOVES dogs so she was in heaven.  My neice was in her wagon half the time and the other half she pulled her wagon.  She's so cute!  She wanted to "drive" her Barbie Beetle, but obviously that was out of the question. (she's only 2)  About halfway through the walk Abbie fell in love with a dog and sat down with it.  She stayed there and just pet it, while everyone else (except me) kept walking.  I stayed about 20 feet away and just watched her pet the dog and hug it and kiss it.  She just has a way with animals.  They love her as much as she loves them.

By the time we got home it was time for Abbie to take a shower and go to bed.  I read a little while and went to bed myself.  It was a very peaceful Mother's Day.
