About Me
I have been married for 4 1/2 years and have a 8 week old little guy, Brody. I'm currently a stay at home mom, but aspire to be a writer in the future after I finish school. I have been in recovery from anorexia for 18 months and counting, and I am embracing a new life that gets a little easier each day.
Interests
I love Jesus, He's my rock! My family and friends are the best a girl could hope for. I love to read, write, bake, walk, swim, watch movies, sing along to almost any song, take baths, practice yoga, and just be me.

Support Groups
Close Depression
Type: Clinical (Major) DepressionI was diagnosed with depression for the first time about four years ago and have since relapsed a couple times. Now I have a pretty steady hold on it.
Treatments
- Effexor Working / Worked
- Worked well while I was taking it, I can't take it since I'm breastfeeding right now.
- Meditation Somewhat Helpful
- Helpful when I have time to set aside that is not interupted. Doesn't work now that I have a child:)
- Positive Thinking Working / Worked
- I think this is one of the best things... seriously our thoughts determine our actions.
- Psychotherapy Working / Worked
- Definitely helps me not to bottle up the emotions that lead to depression
- Support from Friends & Family Working / Worked
- I don't know how I'd do it without them.
- Writing Somewhat Helpful
- Again, I have to remember to do this... but when I do it helps to get the feelings on paper because then they don't hold as much power.
- Zoloft Somewhat Helpful
- Worked okay the first time around. After I got pregnant I switched back to it and it did nothing for me... could have been the hormones.
Close Eating Disorders
Type: AnorexiaI have been in recovery from anorexia for 18 months and counting. It laid in waiting and came on when I was about 20 years old. In less than 2 years I was on the brink of death. I went to Rosewood Ranch, inpatient and outpatient for a total of 70 days and since then I've been in therapy. I co-lead a support group for ED's in my town, and will be starting a new one that I will lead next year.
Treatments
- Dietitian Consult Somewhat Helpful
- I saw a RD when I got home from treatment for a few months, but she actually brought on some worse thoughts in the end b/c she let me know my weight and encouraged working out which was a part of my ED.
- Group Therapy Working / Worked
- Worked while in treatment facility... there isn't any group therapy where I live.
- Overeaters Anonymous (OA) Not Working
- I went to a few meetings and although I'm not a OA they were nice, but it was sort of triggering for me to hear about abstaining from food.
- Psychotherapy Working / Worked
- Still working in therapy and it helps me to get not stuff my feelings and see my distortions more clearly
- Residential Treatment Center Working / Worked
- Saved my life. I had suppliments to gain the weight (28lbs) back. I was forced to face ED head on, and I kicked his butt!
- Support from Friends & Family Working / Worked
- Have to have it. My husband and parents have been there completely from the time I told them what was going on.
- Zoloft Somewhat Helpful
- Not the best for me.
Open Codependency
I have been co-dependent with my mother as long as I can remember. I kept this when I got married and was very, very co-dependent on my husband. I have been in recovery for this for over 18 months.
Treatments
- 12 Step Program Working / Worked
- Very helpful. I go to one called TRUTH.
- Celebrate Recovery Working / Worked
- I love recovery meetings that are Christian based. It gives more meaning to everything.
- CoDA Working / Worked
- I loved this meeting when I was in AZ. They don't have one where I live. It was like I wrote the book!
- Talking Working / Worked
- I have to have sit-down discussions when I feel like things are going back to the way they were and it helps.
Open Shopping Addiction
This really started when I got married. I would spend way too much money every week mainly on clothes/shoes/bags and gifts. Even if I didn't have it I would charge it, and I hid it from my family. Now I am in recovery and very happy to not be spending:)
Treatments
- Psychotherapy Working / Worked
- Its good to be able to see what the shopping addiction stems from and deal with it.
Open Anxiety
Anxiety is one of the things that still gets me out of all of my issues. It's a uphill battle everyday and I'm just trying to keep fighting.
Treatments

Treatments
- Cognitive Behavioral Therapy Working / Worked

- Zoloft Not Working
- Didn't really help me with this area.
Open Panic Attacks
I used to get these anytime I had to talk or deal with my outward appearance in front of others, but I haven't had one in a while.

- Effexor Somewhat Helpful
- Helped when I could take it.
- Positive Thinking Working / Worked
- Takes my mind off of the issue at hand to be able to get through it.
- Psychotherapy Working / Worked
- Gave me ideas to impliment when having one
- Zoloft Not Working
- Didn't help at all.
Open Families & Friends Of Addicts
I come from a long line of alcoholics, this is the reason I don't drink. Also, my mother was a meth addict until I was 12 years old. My birth father has been on steroids (as well as some other drugs through the years) for almost 30 years.
Treatments
- Al-Anon Somewhat Helpful
- Helps me not to be co-dependent in the issues they have and to realize that it's not my problem/fault.
