Rhuemy weened me off my Prednisone, she says "its too dangerous of a medication" for longterm. But she wants to put me on chemo-meds? I said no.
My body feels like a train wreck, but I'm not taking, methotraxate, or whatever its called. It causes birth defects 80% of the time if you were to get pregnant while taking the medication. At least that is what the doctor said, she said, "It would not be a 'Happy Day' if you were to get pregnant while taking this medication." I said she can keep the pills until she can come up with a better plan.
I don't want kids, but that is ridiculous to have to live with that fear.
Why can't we as patients have the right to take what works? I think I'd risk myself to take Prednisone which works, rather then risk my potential unborn child over a medication I don't even know works...

Hello thee Sound of Rain,
I was clearing out my e-mails from DS & found that I'd not replied to you: I do hope the epilepsy specialist has been able to help you: I wrote a response to one of the drugs used on the Site: I'm fortunate in that I had a fall down stairs in a factory & developed a form of petit-mal called photophobic (or photogenic - but I'm not that!) - meaning flashing lights trigger episodes: was on some heavy meds. at first (it took 22 years to diagnose it)- the first caused increase in appetite, but I felt well (it turns out to have anti-depressant effects - the next one was one of the causes of loosing my teeth. Am now on Paxam (one of the diazapam group. Hope you have had a good diagnosis & your meds don't cause many sides. Best wishes, JaneD.
