    • Close Families of Prisoners

I am 23 and have been with Stephen for 4 years. We have been married for almost two years. (I married him while he was incarcerated). He has been in prison since January of 2006, and at the most has just a little under 2 years to go. He is going up for parole this year, so who knows? We have been through so much together already, and have gotten through it. He is the love of my life, and nothing will change that. So, I will continue to wait patiently until he comes home.

      Treatments

      Crying Somewhat Helpful
For me, sometimes crying is the release I need. But it seems to happen too often recently.
      Music Working / Worked
Music is one of my favorite coping mechanisms. It makes me feel as if I am not alone. I can listen to a song that perfectly fits my situation at the time, and realize I will be okay. And sometimes... I listen to sad music when I am already sad...lol which then turns into crying.
      Talking Working / Worked
Being able to talk to people going through the same thing is the biggest therapy tool for me. It's nice to know that people really do care, and actually understand.
      Writing Working / Worked
It seems that it is a great release for me to write my feelings down. No one out here really understands what I am going through... but my words are comforting. I can look back, and realize... I got through this.
