    About Me

I have been struggling with eating disorders/anxiety for the past 7 years... anorexia, bulimia, overeating... you name it. I graduated from college with a degree in Public Relations/Political Science, but am working at my parents' law office before I feel ready to go back and get my Masters. It is difficult to work with both parents, and although I am blessed that they are in my life, there are many times when I wish I wasn't with them every day. I have a brother and sister who are frusterated and upset with what I do, and a boyfriend of 2 years who doesn't understand why I make myself sick like this... but then again, I don't either.

    Interests

Swimming (I used to be a competative swimmer), any other water activity, walking, watching movies, reading, shopping, animals (I love my cat!) Unfortunately, I hardly enjoy any of these activities anymore because my ED makes me miserable.

    • Close Eating Disorders

I have been battling with bulimia and overeating for the past 6 years of my life. I have also been in and out of therapy, seen nutrionists and been put on anti-depressants. Nothing seems to help.

      Treatments

      Dietitian Consult Not Working
I liked her, but it only made me want to stop eating completely and become skinny like the girls in the group therapy.
      Lexapro Not Working
      Did nothing for me
      Psychotherapy Not Working
I listen to her, but feel that much of it is a bunch of crap. Also, some activities she wants me to do do not help at all. An example would be to count backwards from 100 when I feel myself wanting to binge.
      Cymbalta Somewhat Helpful
I felt like it was helping at the beginning, but it does not seem to be doing anything anymore. I still have bad thoughts and seem to want to eat and throw up more than I did before
    • Close Diets & Weight Maintenance

I have been struggling to lose weight for about 6 or so years. I have tried EVERYTHING! But my eating disorder of binging/purging doesn't help, and actually made me gain weight.

      Treatments

      Alli Not Working
      Atkins Diet Somewhat Helpful
Worked, but I didn't stay on it long.
      Counting Calories Somewhat Helpful
Eating Healthier Foods Working / Worked
      Eat Less Working / Worked
    • Open Trichotillomania (Hair Pulling)
      Type: Trichotillomania

I started pulling out my hair when I was a sophomore in high school, so roughly 7 years ago. It began as pulling out the split ends, but then became something much worse. EVERYONE started noticing me do it, and they would make comments all the time. I am extremely self-conscious about my balding and hardly wear my hair down anymore. I hate when people with thick, beautiful hair complain about their hair!
