I'm a full-time college student and mom of a 5-year-old who is on the high-functioning end of the autism spectrum. I will be starting Peg. Interferon treatment in July.
Treatments
- Milk Thistle Working / Worked
- I have no idea if it has worked.
Close Autism / Autism Spectrum
My 5-year-old son has recently qualified for a public school program designed for children on the spectrum, based on his ADOS performance. He has no formal diagnosis.
Treatments
- Early Intervention Working / Worked
- Incredible experience for us both; in addition to speech, pt and ot; we had parent-child intervention. He used to be a head-banging, hand-flapping, isolated toddler - I believe our experience helped him to reach beyond his narrow sphere of safety and interest to start the hard (for him) work of getting along in the world.
- Floor-Time Therapy Working / Worked
- Helped me to be more responsive, helped him to reach out to others.
- Occupational Therapy Working / Worked
- His fine motor is still behind others his age(which he gets very frustrated about), but he's improving and no longer has a fight or flight response to peanut butter and jelly sandwiches or finger paint.
- Pets Working / Worked
- Fish. Very calming
- Play Therapy Too Soon to Tell
- His play still consists of scripted loops, rather than pretending and it is difficult to expand on his play.
