    About Me

    Believer in Jesus Christ! Chronic pain sufferer for 20 yrs. I still love life and living, rather in pain or not. Pain has taught me to rely on God and others. (I used to do everything myself.) I love healping others as it makes me focus on something else besides me. My family is my life. I have 3 grown kids, and 1 grandson. I am the baby of 8 kids *from the same Mom and Dad!) We are a close knit group, although scattered all over the USA.

    Interests

    My husband (of 27 yrs.) & I love being together, traveling together, camping, going to the movies, picnics in the park, and yes we still hold hands and kiss! I love animals and have 2 dogs now(just recently had to put my Golden Retriever down due to a stroke). I love reading, quilting, cross-stitching, which I can't do much anymore, but still try. I love taking pictures and my newest thing is scrapbooking.

      Thanks for your message. I knew there would be a little controversy...but I wanted to know if it is what caused it or if it causes flares for others. I know I normally do fine with it...in fact I relax a littel easier with one or two...emphasis on the one or two...than if I don't have one. It helps me relax a little. I don't like to get smashed...just have a couple. Not saying I never get drunk cause sometimes it happens but that wasn't the case this time. Anyways...thanks for your reply...it helps.

      I have DDD. I have had 2 back surgeries, and still have 4 herniated disks, "failed back surgery" which I now know is Arachnoiditis. Constant pain, on SSD, etc. Would love to be apart of this group! Painfighter

      Treatments

      Aqua Therapy Working / Worked
      Helps as long as I only stay in only 15 min. Otherwise, my muscles turn to jelly.
      Cyclobenzaprine Working / Worked
      It worked, but left me extremely drugged the next day. I went to Zanaflex instead.
      Cymbalta Not Working
      I did got any benefits of pain relief and my depression got worse.
      Duragesic Patch Working / Worked
      I started out on 25mcg. and now I am on 50 mcg. I feel my pain is mostly controlled due to the patches and drug therapy I am on. There are no side effects, except when you are first getting used to them (2 weeks)
      Elavil Working / Worked
      early years treatment was taken for sleep
      Guaifenesin Not Working
      This made me sicker than a dog!
      Heat Somewhat Helpful
      helps, but pain can come back quickly once the heat wears off
      Lyrica Not Working
      Gained weight, and did not see any additional benefit from Neurontin(and N. is cheaper)
      Morphine Working / Worked
      Before getting on the patches, I took Kadian. I slept half the day away, but it did work. Dizziness, foggy brain, memory loss, itcy skin. Dry mouth too.
      Neurontin Working / Worked
      I take this drug twice a day to help with nerve pain. I think it helps, but it also makes me gain weight, so I am not happy about that. But pain relief is more important.
      TENS Somewhat Helpful
      Works while it is on. Once it stops, very little affect last. But boy does it feel good when on!
      Ultram Working / Worked
      I am currently taking UltramER. It took awhile to notice relief, but I really like it now. Dry mouth is a side effect.
      Zanaflex Working / Worked
      I love this muscle relaxer! It really helps me. Side effects for me are dry mouth, sleeping, dizziness, loss of balance.
      Hydrocodone Working / Worked
      This is my breakthru pain relief. I use to take it daily for years and now I only take it if I am in a flare. Again dry mouth is all that affects me now.
      Klonopin Working / Worked
      helps me sleep

    • Open GERD & Heartburn

      I have had stomach problems for years. Was diagnosed with Heartburn about 7 years ago. Symptoms got worse as time went on, and 2 years ago I was diagnosed with GERD.

      Aciphex Working / Worked
      This medicine has been a God send.
      Antacids Not Working
      used to chew these things like candies.
      Avoid Certain Foods / Chemicals Working / Worked
      I avoid spicy foods, peanut butter, and fried food.
      Carafate Too Soon to Tell
      Just started this.
      Dietary Modification Working / Worked
      I no longer eat spicy foods or fried foods without some kind of repercussion.
      Nexium Working / Worked
      Used this before Aciphex. It just stopped working one day.
      Raising Bed Position Working / Worked
      I didn't raise my bed, but added pillows and that helps too.
      Probiotics Working / Worked
      it definately helps in my digestive system. I also IBS.

      My back pain started when I was 16 and rear-ended for the first time. 4 more wrecks, 2 surgeries later, I live with Chronic back pain.

      Sometimes it helps, sometimes it makes it worse!
      Chiropractic Adjustment Not Working
      I had this done for a year, and it just seemed to be never ending battle.
      Cortisone (Injection) Somewhat Helpful
      I have had numerous injections. I experienced some relief for days, then the pain comes back.
      Epidural Injection Not Working
      I have had these before too. Most recently in Feb. '08 I did get some relief.
      Hydrocodone Working / Worked
      Use Vicodin 10 for "breakthru pain"
      Ibuprofen Not Working
      Morphine Working / Worked
      Use to take Kadian
      Naproxen Not Working

      I was diagnosed with SA over a year ago, and struggle to sleep with the mask on. When I do, it makes a diff. in my sleep, but when I don't I have insomnia, or sleep for days! Would love to discuss this.

      i falla sleep before remembering to hook up the machine. Then if my husbnad wakes me up to do, I am wide awke for hours. But when I do remember, I do sleep better.
      Lose Weight Working / Worked
      I think this has helped alot. I have lost 80 lbs., so I thought Ididn't need it, but my husbnad told me I still snored, and held my breath. Then due to medication, I gained 4o lbs back and boy could I tell a huge difference. I struggled to catch my breath! But now that is gone again, I am wondering if I still need it.

      Hi, I have quietly suffered from IBS for years. I never even checked to see if there was a group here! I see a GI Dr. and have had several procedures done. The Colonoscopy is next...YIKES!

      this has worked for years. However, I tend to run out and let time slip by before getting more, thus hurting myself.
      Avoid Certain Foods / Chemicals Somewhat Helpful
      I can't always avoid certain foods, esp out in rest. where they say they will live out MSG but they really don't.
      Bentyl Working / Worked
      again, i had to remember to take it everyday and drink it or mix it with something to drink...if this is what I think it is.
      High Fiber Diet Somewhat Helpful
      when i stick to this, it does help
      Imodium Not Working
      plugs me up to bad. I go from one extreme to another
