School Days! School Days! Mood
Monday, September 1, 2008 | A Positive story
Why is it that I get that old familiar feeling at this time of year, and I'm 55 yrs old??!!!!  I'm not going back to school but yet I feel a stirring, and a yearning to go buy pencils and notebooks.  I had a fabulous weekend. The best weekend I have had in 3 yrs.  So much joy and happiness.     Since I can't pay the bills with appraising work I have decided to suppliment my income.  I thought long and hard about what I could do and what I would like to do. Babysitting is the answer.  I want to be Mary Poppins, afterall I am "practically perfect in every way" already.  I went on line and registered on a site for sitters and parents.  I had several nibbles and felt the power of being able to choose which position I wanted.  So I start on Wednesday, 3 hrs a day, plus school holidays and snow days.  My charge is a little 9yr old boy.  I hope this works out.  I'm thinking this is practice for being a grandma someday.

Labor Day Weekend Parties Mood
Saturday, August 30, 2008 | A Happy story
Yesterday I went to a surprise 80th birthday party for my aunt whose up from Florida.  She looks fantastic, I haven't seen her for about 7 years. She is one of my mother's 6 siblings. There are only 2 still living. My cousin hosted the party in her backyard and had it decorated like a cruise ship.  She had designated area's: lounge, casino, restaurant, pool, etc.  Plenty of old photos of my aunt posted about.  I enjoy being with my cousins so much. They are all awesome people.  My son and daughter came with their partners, and I was so proud.  It felt good to eat some delicious food, drink a little wine and wake up in the am feeling physically well.  Tonight I'm meeting my cousin from Fla for dinner and then she is staying at my house.  We are going to a family wedding tomorrow with cousin Reenie for even more fun times.  I am in party mode this weekend. Ok, back to cleaning my house. ttyl

What fun! I know that seeing your aunt and cousins is truly a blessings. My mom comes from a family of 11 and there are only three left. We too had parties on Long Island. My sister Sally had a reunion a few years ago and I got to see cousins I hadn't seen in years. Just reading your journal brought back happy memories.

FAMILY TIMES Mood
Monday, August 25, 2008 | A Happy story
I had a great time with my brother and sister-in-law.  We started out from Connecticut for Vermont.  We had lunch at a run down bar with dead animals mounted on the walls, but the food was good.  My niece, hubby, plus Zach (5 1/2) and Zoe (1 1/2) have a house on Lake St Catherine in Vermont.  It is beathtaking.  We went out on their boat many times, they swim off the boat, I was too chicken, knew I'd never be able to get back in.  A few times we went out fishing.  It was heaven. Rob is a fantastic cook, so you know I enjoyed myself.  Saturday we went to the Washington County Fair in New York.  There were lots of livestock and produce displayed, a tractor pull, firemen show, a farm museum, music, singing, magicians, and food.  We all had a wonderful time.  That night some lake neighbors had fireworks.  And both nights the heavens gave us a fantastic show of stars. You feel as if you could touch "billions and billions" of stars.  I enjoyed listening to my brother tell us about the constellations sitting around the fire pit.  I will try to post some photos on my site soon.  Those kids are just the cutest. And to think they would not exists if Rob had been blown up on 9/11/01, he missed the bombing by 10 minutes.  I am thankful.

Yes, I recall your mentioning this chilling detail with one of your photos some time ago. In any event, it's always a pleasure visiting you, your memories of Phil, family and photos. I'm glad your weekend lived up to all the anticipation you had. Have a good day!

I know the area you write about, well, I know Vermont. I was born and raised in southeastern Vermont, and it is a beautiful place. Glad you had family, friends, and fun.
