Ellen, ramble all you want. I am here and I may not be able to help but I can listen and I do that well. I take amiodarone 200mg/day and atenolol, 100 mg/day. They want me to take cumidin but I refuse it because I have stomach ulcers and I take large doses of ibprofine already. Actually they were trying to wean me off the amiodarone, but the afib came back and I had it for 3 months straight with out any breaks. ughhhhh But with these meds it seems to be holding it steady. I complained for almost 10 years of irregular heart and racing but no one took it seriously. I went to 5 cardioligists and that didn't help either. Then one day I was in the hospital waiting to have a cast put on my foot after surgery, and it started, so I called the nurse, they did the ekg and after about 8 hours a doctor came in and told me what I had. I had previously worn the halter moniter and had all kinds of test, but if it isn't happening at the time the test is being done, they have no clue. So finally I knew what I had, I had even made several visits to the ER but by the time I got there, it was over. I even went by ambulance once, and same thing, gone by the time I got there. So now I don't have the symptoms anymore, well at least not right now, I do have 'break thrus', but at least it isn't costant. I couldn't even sleep when it was happening. I kept telling the doctors, the heart was supposed to do it's thing and you were not supposed to feel it or be aware of it. Quite hard to ignore when it is skipping and beating 200 miles an hour at the same time. The only thing is that this medication not only makes you tired, it has slowed my metabolism to zero. Also there is the worry that it will damage one or all of my organs, kidneys, liver, lungs, thyroide, eyes and that is just to name a few. The only good this is that they said if I stopped taking it that my kidneys and liver would heal, but the rest would just continue to get worst until they didn't work any more. So now between cleaning the house, cooking supper for my sis and myself, and playing on the computer, I don't do much else. My bones are disintegrating and had to have two bone grafts in my right ankle. I have also had to have bone grafts in my jaw and think that my left ankle might be on its way too. I definitely need new knees.......too bad we can't just go to the store and buy some new body parts, lol Well now look who is rambling. And yes I know about falling asleep. I can fall asleep washing dishes or other such activities. I will have to go now, my cat just parked herself on the keyboard, and there is no easy way to type now. Take care. Diane

Oh Lord, I know what you are going through. I too am huge, over 300 pounds, have Afib and arthritis to the point that I am in a wheel chair most of the time. I can't even stand on a scale to see if I am gaining, losing or staying the same. The ony consolation is that my clothes all still fit from last year, yea, means I am at least staying the same. I take amiodarone for the Afib, and that leaves me with no energy at all. My heart rate is 48 beats per minute. It takes me all day to do things that require activity. Cleaning the house, etc. I just wish I could lose a few pounds so that they would do knee replacement surgery. Right now they won't do it cause I am too big,. I am in so much pain, I could cry all the time. Or at the very least if I had some pain meds that worked would help too. My sister and I went on a diet, I did all the cooking and she lost 50 pounds and I didn't. But she exercises twice a week and runs up and down the stairs all the time. I just sit,. Good luck to you. You are not alone.
