About Me
I am married to a great guy and we have two cats (Lulu and Belle)! We moved to Florida about 5 years ago to escape the cold in NY. Since moving here, while the weather is much better, my MS has worsened. I was diagnosed about 30 years ago, did great for the first 20, but the last 5 have been very difficult. Before retiring, I was a legal secretary for 30 years. Now I am home for the first time and learning all new hobbies, i.e. gardening and reading (not on the train)!

Hi, I also have MS and went on avonex but the side effects were so bad I went off it. I haven't been dx yet but I did have one attack. I am seeing a new neuro, he is a MS specialist to get an opinion. I am sorry you had a flare up. I am here if you need to talk because I know of the pain you must have and fatigue and all the other symptoms, hugs Maggie. you will love this website, alot of great people.

Close Multiple Sclerosis (MS)
Type: Seconday Progressive MSTreatments
- Avonex Working / Worked
- I was on Avonex for a few years. It didn't help. In fact, I had the worst flare ever and wound up in a wheel chair.
- Copaxone Working / Worked
- I am taking Copaxone now and have been on it for several years. I find it to be the best treatment so far.
- Cytoxan Working / Worked
- I am just beginning but it seems to be making this worse instead of better. The side effects are awful.
- LDN - Low Dose Naltrexone Working / Worked
- I took LDN for two years. Again, I continued having flares so I stopped.
- Novantrone Working / Worked
- I did two years of Novantrone. They were the best two years I've had ina long time. No bad side effects and no flares. Too bad it is limited to two years!
- Physical Therapy Working / Worked
- I have had a lot of P/T and the exercise is great.
- Prednisone Working / Worked
- I have taken Prednisone several times. It always helped with flares.
- Provigil Working / Worked
- I take 200 mg. a day and it really does help me.
- Solumedrol Working / Worked
- I have been on Solumedrol several times (with each flare up). It does help, but again, the side effects are difficult.
- Paxil Working / Worked
- I take Paxil everyday and have been for several years. It really helps with depression.
