The belief that vaccinations save our hcildren from deadly diseases and are undoubtedly safe is widely upheld in the United States of America.  If someone dares to question the safety and efficacy of vaccinations, they are met with ridicule and scorn.  However the faith in the vaccinations administered to our children is beginning to wane.  It is estimated that 25% of American parents are now puestioning just how safe vaccinations really are.  Of these 25% over 2/3rd are well-educated, upper middle class citizens.

Concerned parents are joined by a number of grandparents, as well as Congressmen, doctors, and popular public figures.  For example Congressman Dan Burton, a republican from Indiana, has become outspoken with his view that thimerosal is responsible for his grandson, Christian's, autism. After his grandson's diagnosis of autism, Rep. Burton presided over a three-year investigation of thimerosal.  His House Government Reform Committe reported, "Thimerosal used as a preservative in vaccines is directly related to the autism epidemic."  This report also claimed the the Food and Drug Ad. (FDA) was at fault for not adherring to safety data bout injected thimerosal, which is a known neurotoxin, out of protection for themselves and the pharmaceutical industry.

Thimerosal is used as a preservative in vaccines with the hoalof preventing bacterial overgrowth.  It is an ethyl mercury sodium salt.  In 1999 the FDA's directive was to remove mercury from vaccines.  However, thimerosal is still found in most of the flu shots, some tetanus shots, diphtheria-tetanus vaccines, pertusis vaccines, and meningitis vaccines.  Thimerosal has been found to be fifty times more toxic than methyl mercury which is the type of mercury found in fish.  One of the reasons that this ethyl form of mercury is more dangerious is that it is injected into the system instead of ingested.  Also, because infants have no blood-brain barrier, once mercury is inthe nerve cells, it is changed back to the inorganic for which causes permanent degeneration and death of brain cells.  This new form becomes tightly bound and may remain for years.

Thimerosal was addend to vaccines in the 1930's and interestingly autism was identified as a new type of mental disorder by Leo Kanner in the lateh 1930's.  In 1982 an FDA panel concluded that thimerosal is toxic and is not effective in killing bacteria, the sole purpose for using the preservative.  They also stated that thimerosal caused cell damage and allergic reactions.  Did you know that the use of themerosal was never necessary?  All the pharma's had to do was produce the vaccines in a completely sterile environment.  It would just cost the big guys a little more money to produce them.

Eli Lilly was the first pharmaceutical company that developed thierosal and in 130 tested it and found it to be safe to inject into the bloodstream of our children.  They did not mention that all of the 22 human patients that had been injected with thimerosal during Eli Lilly's safety testing had died weeks after receiving the injection.  In 1935 researchers from another vaccine manufacturer, Pittman-Moore, declared that the preservative had not passed their safety tests and declared that it was "unsatisfactory as a serum intended for use on dogs."

Rep Burton's grandson, Christian, received nine vaccinations in a single office visit and seven of these vaccinations contained thimerosal. after which he rapidly declined into full-blown autism.  Christian was a normal two-yuear old before the vaccinations were administered.  Two days after the administration of the vaccinations, Christian stopped looking his mother in the eyes.  He banged his head against the wall and suffered from constant diarrhea.  Days later, Christian stopped talking altogether.  This was not the first time that vaccines seemed to harm a grandchild of Rep Burton.  In 1993 Burton's granddaughter, Alexandra, almost died after being injected ith her hep B vaccination.

Christian received 62.5 micrograms of mercury injected directly into his systemon this fateful day.  The Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) has determined that the allowable daily level of mercury in drinking water and food is 0.1 micrograms per kilogram of body weight.  It doesn't require a degree in mathematics to figure that Christian received an amount of mercury  that was in excess of federal limits.
