    About Me

I'm just me, and if someone doesn't like it, tough noodles. :D I'm a lot of things, but first and foremost I'm a mom. I work in health care as a medical transcriptionist but have aspirations of getting back to school and finishing my PA degree, so I can help patients in a more hands-on way. I don't believe in setting limits on how far a person can go in life once they set their mind to it, so-called "disabilities" and all, and that's part of my drive in adapting to and overcoming physical limitations resulting from MS and syringomyelia.

    Interests

In my former life I enjoyed bowling, painting, crochet, gardening, and bicycling. In my current life, I spend a lot of time trying to figure out ways to do those activities I once enjoyed, so that I may enjoy them again.

Darling, I think we should be friends... I am also a friend of Feisty and I've read LilMargie for a while, both of these womyn are of like mind to me... I don't know if you're in the US, but I think it is very sad in this great "free" country of ours, we people on disability have such a hard time getting recommended treatments! Neediles (yes, I spell it wrong on purpose) are no big deal as I did betaseron for over 8 yrs. raw ulcers everywhere I gave a shot and all... I admit, I'm very very disappointed in our healthcare system, and Medicare Part D is a farse... Oh, well! Fresh country air has been working for 6 years now, so why not stick with that plan? NO neediles involved! LOL xoxoxo Cj (Cindyjo)

    • Close Multiple Sclerosis (MS)
      Type: Relapsing-remitting MS

Diagnosed "formally" after years of progressive weakness that became profound 2 years ago, optic neuritis leaving me with limited vision in my right eye, and difficulty swallowing and even breathing, after seeing many doctors and being told everything from "It's all in your head, you need a psychiatrist" to "you're faking," I finally had enough plaques on my MRI to qualify for that formal diagnosis.

      Treatments

      Copaxone Too Soon to Tell
Started 11/07. Needles don't bug me so it's not a big deal, but I bruise easily and the remnants of my last 2 months of injections are "tattooed" on my arms and legs. No bruising on my hips and tummy, but Shared Solutions is quite adamant about not "favoring" sites. Since there's no cure for MS and no way to reverse the damage to the CNS, this therapy is only preventive, so it's hard to say how it's working unless you're having frequent acute exacerbations, which I'm not.
      Provigil Too Soon to Tell
Just started 4/10/08 but within hours of taking the first dose, I was geared up and ready to take on the world, feeling more like the OLD me than I have in years. I am optimistic about having this in my regimen and only wish my doc had started me on it sooner.
    • Close Syringomyelia

Small sx in C-spine with disk herniation, discovered during workup for MS and currently being monitored.
