I was diagnosed with adult-onset temporal lobe epilepsy at the age of 42. Out of nowhere, I had a grand mal seizure and was rushed to the hospital. Subsequent tests showed that I had a predisposal to seizures. After 2 1/2 years, I am still having difficulty adjusting to my loss of independence...my job, driving and the day to day coping with side-effects is difficult.

      Treatments

      Ativan Somewhat Helpful
I only take one when my simple partials start clustering.
      Dilantin Working / Worked
      Keppra Working / Worked
Am currently on 3,000 mgs. Don't like the KepRAGE, though!
      Lamictal Somewhat Helpful
side-effects inclujded non-essential tremors and migraines.
      Topamax Working / Worked
Worked well for a year and a half, then seemed to stop.
      Tegretol Working / Worked
It works better than the Topamax controlling partial seizures but I cannot tolerate the sideeffects.
