Got TMJ?
So, after having my two wisdom teeth pulled about 2 weeks ago now, I haven't been able to open my mouth. Last week, I saw the dentist. She said that there must have been some trauma to the jaw that is causing this. I've tried the ibuprofen, moist heat, massage, you name it.....but nothing is helping. So, I'm stuck with my jaw litterally locked down. I can open in to barely slide my tounge through. I was given some Vicodin. It's helping me eat. When I take it, I can open my mouth enough to slip my finger in. So, eating has become quite the chore.
The dentist also referred me out to a TMJ specialist. I guess I thought it would have relaxed some by now, but it hasn't. So, I'm off tomorrow to go and see what they thing. The dentist seems to think that it's my disc that holds my jaw up in place. And I think she may be right. It hurts something aweful when I open in. Andypants caught in accidentally the other day and it hurt so bad. I actually cried in front of him that time. Poor kid, he didn't know what happened. There I was bawling in front of him, Tim standing behind me yelling at Andypants.....Beans is crawling in to check out the action. And I'm trying to share with Tim that it's an accident. I thought he broke my jaw. But, it's still working....just very very limited.
LOL, I've been praying for help in dieting....I guess this is God's great humor again. Man, I love that big guy!! (SMILE)
The Vicodin has helped me though with getting stuff done around here that I've been wanting to do for years. I finally felt like I had the strength to work out in the yard. My mom came over today (yesterday too) and we pulled up the Irises, evergreens and trimmed back the wild lilacs. I can see my fence. My yard is looking great! Huge too! We are starting to tear up the lawn on the side of the house now and laying down mulch and creating a cute little flower garden. I want to continue it down the front of the hill as that thing is nasty to mow. I vowed that I was gonna do it this year after Tim splitting his lip open when he fell last year. LOL, our first ER date together.
I'll have to share this with the docs. I've been taking just 1/2 a pill at a time. And I take that about ever 2-3 hours. And I only take 3 total, so that's 1-1/2 tabs per day. I'm doing that to just eat for the time being, but I'm getting so much done as well.
I guess we'll see about all of this. I don't like taking it at all...I wish I didn't even have to get it. But I'm glad as it is helping.
