    • Close Myasthenia Gravis

I started to notice a weakness in my legs about 7 years ago, this weakness seemed to get worse and spread as time went by! Finally I was diagnosed with MG Jan 13th 2007, a touch late as it is now in my arms, hands, breathing and swallowing! As you can see by my treatments, I have not responded well, if at all! I'm no longer able to work and this staying at home is driving me nuts!

      Treatments

      Azathioprine Not Working
I was taking Imuran for 6 months, it never did accomplish anything. My red cell count started to drop drastically to such an extent I could hardly move and passed out a lot. Took months before they discovered the Imuran was the culprit!
      IVIG Not Working
      Did not notice any improvement
      Mestinon Somewhat Helpful
I'm better on it than off it, but not by much
      Plasmapheresis Somewhat Helpful
This was a bit helpful but did not last more than a week
      Prednisone Somewhat Helpful
It was somewhat helpful but promoted rapid weight gain 100lbs. and bone deterioration in both hips very painful
      Thymectomy Too Soon to Tell
So far no improvement! 2 days after the surgery, my system started to shut down and I had a minor heart attack, spent 8 days in ICU, fortunately this happened while I was still in hospital
    • Close Angina

My first "minor" heart attack occurred when I was 29. The hospital ran all kinds of tests and could find no cause till the did an angiogram and discoverd I was suffering from Cornary Spasms. 4 AM seems to be the time, though I can have a spasm while doing strenous work or exercise. The medication they put me on seemed to work, though I would have some problems, it seemed to be under control. I'm 54 now and have had 2 more "minor" heart attacks in the last 4 months. The arteries are still clear!

      Treatments

      Atenolol Too Soon to Tell
They have just switched me to this medication, so far so good.
      Diltiazem Working / Worked
It worked for a long time, but doesn't seem as effective. I have had no side effects
      Nitroglycerin Working / Worked
      Works everytime
    • Open Heart Attack

I have had 3 "minor" Heart attacks, the first at 29, the last 2 within the last 6 months, I'm 54 now.I will tell you, what they call minor, sure scares me at the time. My arteries are clear, the problem is I suffer from Coronary spasms, lately they have becoming more frequently, lasting longer, Thank God for Nitro.

      Treatments

      Angiogram Somewhat Helpful
Showed the arteries are clear, though while doing the test, the arteries did go into Spasm
      Atenolol Too Soon to Tell
They have just switch so far no side effects
      Diltiazem Working / Worked
It's not as effective as it was. No side effects
