Can I treat?
Should I?
Why? Why not?
For how long?
Do I need a liver biopsy?
Why? Why not?
Is there an alternative way to check the liver?
Short term side effects of tx?
Long term side effects of tx?
After effects of tx?
Alternate tx?
Clinical trials?
Coping with side effects?
Coping with symptoms from the virus?
What if I dont respond?
Can the virus lay dormant?
For how long?
What causes it to "wake up"?
Should the other members of my family be tested?
What food/drink should I avoid?
Which should I not avoid?
Any more to ask?

i have hep c and will get liver biopsy next month and will probably start tx soon after. worried about side effects.
I found this article in the NYT AIDS Patients Face Downside of Living Longer By JANE GROSSPublished: January 6, …
You may want to ask if there are any over-the-counter medications your dr would like you to use or avoid, along with herbal supplements. (For example you have to watch out for cough/cold remedies that contain alcohol and not use them, but check if you dr has a list of meds/herbs to avoid and see if there are any supplements he wants you to take or are okay to take.)
You may also want to ask about diet as well (like preservatives are really hard on a liver with hepatitis and people with hep c are protien deficient so you need to eat extra protien (lean protien is the best) or drink protien shakes), again try to get a list of things to increase/decrease in your diet. And we can never drink alchohol again because it makes our liver act like a sponge for the virus.
I do have some links for these things I mention, but these are things that are really important to talk to your treatment dr about because some dr's have conflicting opinions. There is always the ibprophen vs tylenol arguement and which one you should take depends on your dr's opinion, for example.
