Went to see the PA yesterday. NEWS FOR YOU ALL: She suspects Chronic Fatigue Syndrome. YAY /end sarcasm/. She is taking …
I went to my doc because the anti-depressant I was on (cymbalta, 60mg) seemed to not be working. I was 6 weeks post partum. After checking me out he said he wanted to do some blood work and expressed concern that my thyroid may have been having issues. I asked what he was checking for, and his answer was "everything". OK, no big deal. A thyroid issue I could deal with. And it would explain some of my symptoms. I was prescribed Zoloft for the depression and went on my way. This was the beginning of March, this year.
The tests came back and my liver enzymes were elevated. I figured my medication may have caused that and had no issue going to get a hep panel done. I was so positive it was going to be fine. I went back to the doc on March 25th because I was extremely tired and my joints hurt. I thought it was a side effect of the Zoloft. I went in to make an appt and was told to have a seat, the doc would see me next.
I was taken to the exam room and told to have a seat. Before the doc came in, his nurse looked at my chart and said, "Oh, you have hepatits c." And thats how I found out.
I am currently waiting to find out the genotype, and also get the results from an HIV test. I had one sexual partner over the summer. In August I was tested for everything because of the pregnancy. August 10th I had no infection of any kind.
My symptoms started to show up about 5 weeks after I had my baby and I wonder if I got infected while I was in the hospital. I will be pulling my records and seeing if I was tested when I was admitted. It is my understanding that they did a full set of labs on me, to include a hep panel when I went in to labor, and if I had been positive then, they would have told me.
The depression is conciderably worse and the prozac I am now on is a joke that I failed with in the past. I have 3 children. I had my mom come and get my oldest (almost 4 years old) for a few days while I get all my thoughts and emotions sorted out and see the doc again. New meds are a must, as is a psychologist/psychiatrist.
