      From hebrewman August 13, 2007

I read your story, that's absolutely awful. My father only had 1 attack, and has been fine since. Recently went to the cardiologist, and received a clean bill of health. His BP is slightly elevated, but not alarmingly. He had a cardiac-cathaterization before surgery on his leg (amputation)and he's clear, so that's a great amount of comfort. His father died from a heart attack back in 1981 (3 years before I was born) because they didn't even have angioplasty. There's nothing more scary than having a loved one's life in the balance. I feel for you so much. It's terrible.

    • Close Aneurysms

Mama has been diagnosed with a brain aneurysm -- small and inactive at present, but they're keeping an eye on it. Every woman in her family has died of a massive stroke, and we're now convinced that these aneurysms are the cause. A young woman in Daddy's bank dropped dead one afternoon walking across the floor of the bank, as an aneurysm burst that they didn't know about. Mom is terrified now.

    • Close Heart Attack

Daddy has been having heart attacks for 20 years; he's on his third pacemaker (installed July 2006). Heart damage was apparently caused by high blood pressure. Mama says he's been in the hospital 30 times with heart trouble; he's fed up with the hospital and says he'd rather die in the yard. Medication is changed frequently and seems to clash with everything else he takes, sooner or later. Food restrictions drive him crazy and he cheats, which drives Mama crazy.

      Treatments

      Angiogram Working / Worked
      Oxygen Working / Worked
Daddy has a machine at hand that is easy to use, for the times he loses breath. It has saved him many trips to the emergency room, and calmed him by just being there.
      Pacemaker Working / Worked
Daddy is on his third pacemaker. These are like magic in the improvement they provide. His doctor is from Quebec and abandoned socialist medicine and he sings hosannas.
    • Open Blindness & Visual Impairment
      Type: Partially Sighted

I was born with elongated eyeballs which stretches the retina abnormally. Have been told since I was a child that one day I would go blind very suddenly when the retinas let go. Three years ago when I looked through the view finder of my camera I could not see anything; thought it was the camera until I tried the other eye. Doctor confirmed the retina in my right eye has disintegrated from right centre to its edge. I can no longer drive.

    • Open Non-hodgkin's Lymphoma
      Type: Other

My cousin Eric has been diagnosed with Lymphoma and none of us know much about it. Family members have died of the brain kind but this isn't that kind; it is in his chest.
