About Me
I decided to update my profile info as so much has changed for me since I have been here over a year. I am a 34yr. old retired RN diagnosed with Hepatitis C then cirrhosis followed by liver cancer shortly after. Mine is an unusual case due to rapid advancement. Nevertheless, I give thanks to God for each new day. I want to spend the time I have enjoying life and helping educate others about this horrible disease.
Interests
Reading, old black and white movies (TCM is my fav. channel LOL), chatting with friends on the net and cross stitching, to name a few.

Close Hepatitis C
I am a 34 year old single mother and RN. Who is also a recovering addict. I was diagnosed last year while in the E.R. for a stomach virus. Turns out it had advanced to cirrhosis followed by liver cancer.
Treatments
- Milk Thistle Not Working
- Helped at first but not now. Good for HCV alone.
Close Prescription Drug Abuse
I have been addicted to painkillers for ten years. I had a motorcycle accident which got the problem started...Became a nurse, which allowed the problem to continue and married an addict, which escalated it. I am now off oxycontin, ect...first time in 10 years. In a controversial program so I was hesitant to join this group (methadone clinic). Need nonjudgemental support, I have Hep C (not from drug use)not that it matters.
Treatments
- Methadone Working / Worked
- IT HAS SAVED MY LIFE!
- Cold Turkey Not Working
- Horrible withdrawal. Became almost deadly after I tried Morphine and did oxycontin IV. Bad News!
- Detox Not Working
- I have done inpatient and outpatient, short term and long term. Nothing worked until Methadone.
- Methadone Working / Worked
- IT HAS SAVED MY LIFE!
- Narcotics Anonymous (NA) Not Working
- Residential Treatment Center Not Working
- I was inpatient for 3 days, 5 days, and 30 days. Nothing worked. As soon as I was out it started again.
Open Diabetes Type 2
I was diagnosed type 2 last year. I still don't have good control over it. They believe the liver damage has caused it because it is common in Hepatitis C patients. I test 4 times a day and my 30 day avg is somewhere around 300 on medication. I also have extreme drops (

- Metformin Somewhat Helpful
- Just put on 2000mg/day. Average BS is around 300. Side effects include diarrhea and stomach cramps so I don't always take it like I should.
Open Cirrhosis
I have been a member of the hepatitis C group for awhile now. Recent labs showed extremely high liver enzymes, and I have +2+3 pitting edema in my legs, severe edema in my stomach and was diagnosed with cirrhosis & liver cancer. Still in shock.

Open Liver Cancer
Diagnosed with stage 3 liver cancer & Cirrhosis last week. not a good week. I have Hepatitis C. Still in shock as is my family.

- Aldactone Somewhat Helpful
- Helps some with the swelling but not much.
Open Families & Friends Of Addicts
I have been on both sides. I was addicted to pain pills for 10yrs. and now my sister is addicted to opiated (oxy & Fentynyl patches). So worried she has OD'd twice.
