Close Anxiety
When I was about 12 years old a friend called me a worrywart; it didn't mean much to me then, now 28 years later it does! I worry about everything: exams, public speaking, job interviews...it consumes me. I suffer most when anticipating something upcoming. Any success I experience is eclipsed by a “yeah but...” thought. Although I am functional, it seems that I need to pull 10 pounds with the effort it would take to pull 1000. I’ve tried meditation & CBT; I don’t want to use meds.
Treatments
- Cognitive Behavioral Therapy Working / Worked
- Worked well. I had 10 sessions last summer. I think I need more though.
- Meditation Somewhat Helpful
- I think meditation practice strengthens you ability to focus. However, I find it almost impossible to do when I am having an episode.
- Positive Thinking Somewhat Helpful
- Like meditiation, it's a good practice that helps reshape your thinking process for those times you are having an episode. Kind of like physical training helps you prepare you for a race.
