A proud KIWI mother of 3 Teenagers, my youngest daughter Cherie is 14 years old and suffers from Aspergers Syndrome..(Aspie Mums Dads against the world & Behaviour Toolkits~Support groups) My love for pets.... (Cherished Pets Haven); photography, music and gardening are my 'escape' from the reality and pressures of my daughters Aspergers as well as my own ~Bi Polar~ illness. I also suffer from migraines and loose myself in music to try and overcome it. I love to photograph our beautiful New Zealand's true beauty..Having just moved back to NZ after 20 years in OZ..I am waiting for the kids to experience their first Earthquake!

Close Asperger Syndrome
I am a loving mother of my 14 year old daughter~Cherie, who unfortunately suffers from Asperger Syndrome and tends to focus on the negative. I Would really like to talk with people in similar situation, whom empathise not sympathise. Cherie has been ousted by family members for her 'dysfunctional' and immature behaviour. An attention seeker at best, she does not gel well in 'group' sports or activities.
Treatments
- Scrapbooking Working / Worked
- I love scrap booking and now my Aspergers daughter is getting into it too..It works as a positive bonding for us both.
- Pets Working / Worked
- Stoking Pets has a calming healing effect for my daughter
Close Bipolar Disorder
I am an avid photographer and a proud mother of 3 Teenagers. My youngest 14 year old daughter suffers from Asperger Syndrome. My love for music and gardening are my 'escape' from the reality and presures of my daughters Aspergers as well as my own ~Bi Polar~ illness.
Treatments
- Lithium Working / Worked
- works well. i take it inconjunction with seroqueol and Effexor. Lithium has stabilised my moods to a more managable platuea
- Seroquel Working / Worked
- works well for me as anti psychotic drug...stops the 20 million questions going on in my head at the same time and racing thoughts..also helps for insomnia..side effect..weight gain
- Effexor Working / Worked
- anti depressant works well with seroqueol and Lithium.side effect..weight gain.
- Scrapbooking Working / Worked
- Scrap booking is a creative way to express the positive aspects in my life, which in turn help to ward of the depressive side of BiPolar..I would recommend it to anyone.
- Pets Working / Worked
- Pets seekm to be able to understand us on a different level, like when I am depressed , our pets could sense it and practically willed me to stroke them, to aide myself as well as love them.
Open Migraine Headaches
A proud mother of 3 Teenagers, I also suffer from migraines and need pethidine injections when they get too bad. To overcome Migraines sometimes I put my MP3 player on and listen to my favourite music loud~ believe it or not I can sometimes concentrate the throb of the migraine to the beat of the drum...lying in a dark room doesn't work for me..it only makes it worse.
Treatments
- Caffeine Somewhat Helpful
- I take caffergot tablets on the onset of a Migraine..sometimes works, will work better if I also take panadeine forte. Otherwise need pethedine injection when it gets to advanced.
- Scrapbooking Somewhat Helpful
- Yes scrapbooking even helps with Migraines...at both ends..not the extreme centre of the migraine though!
- Pets Working / Worked
- Stroking pets definately works..I recommend it to all migraine sufferer with pets.
Open Autism / Autism Spectrum
I am a single mother to my 14 year old daughter has Aspergers Syndrome. I believe that I can help her if I can understand her. I believe that I also have Aspergers traits.

- Patience Working / Worked
- See the world through my daughters eyes..sometimes patience can be the only option to fighting frustration. It can work most times...but still can be frustrating.
- Pets Working / Worked
- Stroking our cat definately helps both my daughter and myself! Definitely works for us both.
- Psychotherapy Working / Worked
- Ongoing support As my daughter is 14 she gets depressed easily and cant seem to refocus on easy tasks easily. Someone that she can talk to helps her though I worry about some of the things she says that she believes to be true that are not.
- Scrapbooking Working / Worked
- Brings out the creative side of people..very successful for Autistic children who can't speak their feelings.
