thanks for such good supportt. it was so nice to have someone to talk to that was a head of my healing so i knew what to expect. today is nine weeks. and the first time i got up and my ear wasn't fluttering like a big bug crawled in there. it only lasted for a couple of hours after i got up but i got some relief and it was new hope that i am still healing and getting better. my face is doing really well i have some sore spots like bruises and my mouth is alittle screwed up. like i find myself sounding like sylvester the pussy cat when i try to pronouce f's and th's. the other night in art class i stuttered which was really weird but we all got a good laugh out of it. when you are with friends you can laugh about weird stuff and it doesn't get you so upset. i was so impressed i was in art. it is a hobby but you have to be emotionally, physically and mentally there when you are painting , or maybe not i wonder if that is why some of the master's work is so good???? hahaah well hope you are having a good week and write soon. jules

I am soo glad that you are doing somewhat better! It will get better, day by day. Looking for a new job is a good idea. I tell you, my shingles really, fully went away, when i quit my job. Then I've had ALL of this other stuff going on, but no signs of Shingles that's for sure! Now they think i might have a hernia that was caused by the gallbladder surgery. I haven't been able to eat much, and what i do eat, doesn't stay down, so they think that the hernia is at the top of my stomach. Always something. Good thing... next friday I graduate school! I'll have my Paralegal Certification done with! So, i can concentrate on finding a job again. I'm glad the nuerotin is helping. I didn't take that, they just gave me percocets and lyrica, which together worked... when i wasn't totally out of it. lol Take care and I'll talk to you soon!

thanks for the hug shingles people need lots of them i decided :o) anyway it will be 7 weeks friday, tomorrow and i can't believe how well some areas have healed and estatic about that but one area is really giving me grief. like my eye brow is moving well now and i can smile but it feels funny in my cheek yet and sore. chewing is still alittle difficult but also doing much better. but the ear oh the ear. i feel like there is a huge whole in my ear drum and it is full of water and it whooses and flops around. i have had it checked twice and doc said it looks good, he said it looks a little mushy but it may just need the extra time to heal. also it doesn't help my allergies are running a muck. so back on allergy meds. i put cotton in it and that helps and rest a lot. how many weeks do you have under your belt? you are right no one knows shingles duration until you are going through it you are my inspiration since you are ahead of me in healing. thanks again for your email. i am also praying for God to carry me through keep the faith jul.

Hey there! It was good to hear from you! Thank you for your words regarding my granddad. He was a great man. As you can see, I went through alot in a matter of a week! But I'm better and stronger because of it! Surgery went well. Just trying to recover still. The body is having to get use to not having an organ, and so am i for that matter. It's amazing how important your galbladder really is, and the fact that you don't realize it until it's gone! Well, i haven't had anymore shingle pain in a few months. I worry too about it coming back, and try to remain as "stress free" as possible. I am soo sorry that you are still in pain and discomfort. I had pain for over 7 months. It's very frustrating, and you have them on such an awful sensitive place to begin with. I am soo sorry. So are you just experiencing pain or do you have bouts of rashes still?

hi, how long did your blister's last? did you keep getting waves of them or did you get them and from there they healed and you didn't get any more" i have a lot of tiny little raised rash like ones all over my face with a few new big ones after the initial ones. i guess it might be different for everyone. my face is starting to move again. thank you Lord! my eye brow and corner of my mouth are getting movement back and i can blink my eye but it doesn't blink on it's own so time will tell. i read three months and after that maybe you can tell more what might be residual. hope you are doing well and leaving those nasty shingles in the dust. jules

HI THERE! HOW ARE YOU FEELING? THE SHINGLES STILL GIVING YOU A FIT? SURGERY WENT WELL. I GO TODAY FOR A FOLLOW UP APPT. HERE I AM AGAIN, BACK ON PAIN MEDS AND NOT ABLE TO SLEEP. I GUESS THE GOOD THING IS THAT IT IS TEMPORARY AND I DO FEEL BETTER JUST HAVING THE ROTTEN GALLBLADDER OUT! MY GRANDFATHER PASSED AWAY LAST WEEK, WE HAD THE FUNERAL AND THEN THE NEXT DAY I HAD SURGERY. OH YEAH, AND I GOT "LET GO" FROM MY JOB THE WEEK BEFORE. SO IF THAT'S NOT STRESSFUL, I DON'T KNOW WHAT IS... BUT YOU KNOW WHAT, ABSOLUTELY NO SHINGLE PAIN THROUGHOUT ALL OF THAT. I WAS SHOCKED. SO IT'S TAKEN A FEW MONTHS, BUT IT'S FINALLY GONE AWAY. HOW'S YOUR JOB GOING? ARE THEY BEING SUPPORTIVE? HAVE U GOTTEN ANY RELIEVE FROM YOUR HEADACHES AT ALL? TRY TO TAKE IT EASY. SENDING THOUGHTS AND PRAYERS YOUR WAY! FEEL BETTER SOON! TAKE CARE!

hi i am in another group for a different disorder on this site and am looking for support since i developed shingles about two weeks ago. i had back spasms prior to everything going nuts. then i woke up one morning and my face went numb on the right side, went to ER etc. just finished my valtrex, prednisone, still on ibuprofen, percocets eye drops. i had small little blister by hairline and some real humdingers behind my right ear. my ear pain is horrific and i stayed on percocet around the clock for one and a half prescriptions now. today i woke up and i have three new blisters on my side of the rib cage area that hurt like heck even when i walk. did you find that blisters keep coming after initital break out? don't be afraid of neurotin, it is a good drug. i am already on tegretol for my trigeminal neuralgia so it helps any nerve pain from shingles i am sure. let me know how you are doing i need some hope of when this will all go away and where you are at now in this process. thanks, julesvern (julie)

HEY! I AM SOO SORRY I HAVEN'T BEEN ON FOR A WHILE. IT'S LONG STORIES, IF YOU GET A CHANCE U CAN GO TO MY PROFILE AND READ MY JOURNALS. AS FAR AS THE WHINING OF THE PERCOCETS... I DID HAVE TO TAKE MYSELF OFF OF THEM. AFTER A WHILE I FORGOT IF I WAS REALLY IN PAIN OR JUST DEPENDANT ON THE PILL. I'M BACK ON PAIN MEDS, BUT NOT FOR THE SHINGLES... FOR MY GALBLADDER! GOTTA HAVE SURGERY SOON. IT'S BLOCKED WTIH BILE AND IT'S CAUSING MY LIVER TO BE INFLAMMED. ALWAYS SOMETHING. SO HOW ARE U DOING WITH THE SHINGLES? HOW'S WORK GOING? WISHING U THE BEST! HAGW!

Hi April! Hope this finds you doing better now. Can be 1 day at a time, 1 hour at a time... or 1 minute at a time... but IT WILL GET BETTER! From all the people and prayers with you in this showing up in your Hugbook... know you're not alone! Pain is relative. (lol... like a mother in law!) This will not kill you. Try to find something... anything you can use to take your mind off of it even briefly... reading, cards, jacks, laundry, mopping the floor... WHATEVER works. One of my worst outbreaks I went back to work after 2 weeks on pain meds. It was a physical job and DID take my mind off of it... the oozing blisters thru my shirt were a give away... but straight rubbing alcohol helped them! YOU CAN DO THIS! I PROMISE!!!

I forgot to tell you the shingles are on my back left shoulder above the shoulder blade and wrap around to my neck and up behind my left ear into the hairline at the base of my head.
