Two years ago my kids and I went to our local animal shelter to pick out a kitten. While my kids were deciding on the kitten they wanted I walked over to a cage that held a dirty, skinny, big eyed cat. The poor cat just tugged at my heartstrings. I called my kids over to take a look at him and see what they thought. Each one of my kids commented on how old and ugly the cat was, which only made me feel worse for the poor animal. I decided then and there that this was the cat we were taking home that day. My kids objected because they wanted a kitten instead but I set my foot down. When we got home I showed my husband our new cat and he broke out in laughter. It didn't take long for my husband and the kids to fall in love with this cat because he is such a gentle animal. That scrawny looking cat is now a beautiful, healthy cat with a tender disposition. Although, I am not a cat person I have developed a very close relationship with this cat. I had a very tough year last year and this cat seemed to sense when I was upset because he would come and sit on my lap and I would talk to him and he would talk back. I'm not crazy, I'm sure he didn't understand what I was saying and I didn't understand him, but having him there was a great comfort. I often jokingly tell him to have some pride and stop behaving like a dog because he follows me around the house, sits on my lap while I watch tv and sleeps at my feet. He is always around, he never hides out not even when we have guests over and he lets everyone hold and pet him. He is my best buddy and I will forever be grateful to him for all the times he's been around when I needed comforting. I love you Furball!
