May Beginnings

These weekdays Monday through Friday May 12--16 (other than the tragic China earthquake) are mundane, filled with stretched out activies of housekeeping, laundry, cooking and going to fitness gym 3 X. Tuesday a vet friend of my daughter bluesun picked us up for many errands out & about. But bluesun fell in a parking lot, sprained her left ankle. Our buddy was nice enough to take us to ER where her ankle got wrapped up. Its a crimp to her free spirit. She has to lie back and mend.
Wednesday an older dear friend whose 67 whom I've known 35 years called. She's still active like in her twenties doing everything from college courses to some minor acting to visiting grandkids! I told her I am turning 60 June 1, have slowed down due to medical and personal issues, none my grown kids are settled, no grandkids. I just go to fitness, paint watercolors, and write poetry, am on SSDI, now have DS group thank God! Sometimes I wish I had more of her (my friend who called) free spirit and energy to be so active. But I appreciate my own existence and how it is carved out in space an time and woven in touching ways with others around me. Our two lives since college days have spun in different directions, yet we still have fun and joy contacting each other and catching up.
Each one of us needs to accept and honor ourselves and each others personal existence as a right in itself and make the best of life given us. Despite pain, medical and personal challenges various conditions, and states of mind like depression etc, receive each day as a gift. In this existential moment, ask am I honoring my self, God and those significant others? Through DS I am enjoying getting to make new friends who share bits of each others background, challenges, and experiences of Gods grace. So I am open to hearing from more of you and appreciate your responses as I write jounal entries and share poems on writers of stories of God's grace.
