You lead me home Mood
Wednesday, April 9, 2008 | A Poem/Artistic story

I wrote this for my wife after she helped through depression years ago.

Enveloped by darkness I had no where to turn
Spent and bereaved my shattered soul I laid down

Then off in the distance a glimmer shone through
The closer I strayed the brighter it grew

Whenever I faltered it shone brighter still
The warmth was now waking me from my cold doom

I could see a faint image I grew stronger here
As I made my way closer the image was clear
A battered young woman was combating fear
I hastened to help but was grasped by despair

With one hand she fiercely continued to fight
With the other extended to set me up right
When the battle was over and I closed on my mark
I saw you were my light when I was lost in the dark
