    About Me

I joined DS a few months ago to lose about twenty pounds. I'm looking to lose the final 10 pounds and I don't think it's going to come off easily--haha! I just got involved with Team in Training and I'm now running in the Disney Half Marathon in memory of Jack Fallon, a dear friend of the family. Please stop by my donation page and check it out from time to time, I would really appreciate it! http://pages.teamintraining.org/nce/wdw09/jhaught

    Interests

Spending time with my husband, family, friends and my two dogs. Cheering on the Carolina Hurricanes, watching hockey, reading, listening to music, making handmade jewelry-my website is: www.dancingjendesigns.com -- going to the beach, and dancing.

    • Close Graves' Disease

I was diagnosed with Graves Disease in late 2005 after a MD told me that my symptoms were probably due to allergies. Pretty sure a rapid heart rate is NOT a symptom of allergies! After a blood test confirmed that was not the case and I went thru radioactive iodine therapy and became hypothyroid. I've been 137 Synthroid ever since and hope to NEVER feel the way I did when I first got sick ever again! I'm currently feeling well and see my doctor about every six months.

    • Close Migraine Headaches

I started getting migraines after I left college in WV and got progressively worse when I moved to NC in 2003. Since my new doctor put me on Topamax 150 daily, I don't even remember the last time I've had one!

    • Open Asthma
      Type: Other

I've had asthma since the 8th grade and been hospitalized a few times b/c of it. They don't know what triggers it but I think it's due to high stress. I haven't had an attack in almost five years when a close friend of the family died. Sometimes I get short of breath when I'm sick, but I take my Proventil inhaler and I'm fine.

    • Open Sports Injuries
      Type: Anterior Cruciate Ligament (ACL)

I had total knee reconstructive surgery in 2000 after I blew out my whole right knee, although I didn't hurt it in a sports related way. It's a long and stupid story where I look like klutz basically-haha. Since I've decided to run again my MD told me I have arthritis there and it might be painful, but I'm good to train. Since I've starting training, I've had a little pain & swelling , but nothing that's stopped me. My orthopedic MD is great & is a runner himself, so he's been really helpful.
