Today is my oldest grandson's birthday.  He's ten :)  He's Jeremy's oldest child.  I called Jeremy 3 times and cried all the way home from work.  The old rollercoaster ride.  Ty is having a good day, though.  His mom and "dad" take good care of him.  I just spoke to him and he's having dinner out and sounded very happy.  I'm happy he isn't touched by sadness.  I'm sad at that, too. He is free of the confusion about Jeremy not being his "Daddy" and being just his father.  He handled it well, though.  Ty had come to understand that Jeremy was just Jeremy.  No more awkward hugs between them now.  When I visit back home, his mom gives him to me no matter what the time frame.  She is a wonderful girl.  She knows how much Ty means to me and trusts me and Jeremy's sister (in my absence) with him explicitly. Jeremy would just say "tell Ty I said Happy Birthday".  Ty would respond "tell Jeremy thank you".
