ugh... self pity mode? I know that sounds bad to say considering she lost her husband but that's kinda taking it a bit far. I don't know shrubby... rock and a hard place it seems. I hope things somehow ease up on ya

I wonder if you have told her that is how it seems? That maybe she is insecure because she feels alone and helpless now after being dependant for so many years? It would probably cause a big blow up at first but maybe she would stop and think about it when she has some time alone and maybe she will open up to you or a friend about it. Maybe she doesn't even know she is coming across that way and if she gets mad and tells one her friends trying to make you look bad maybe even the person she tells will be able to get her to see that maybe it's really the way it is without you having to do it? Either way I hope she lightens up on you and I hope your hubby stands by you but still respects her as well... family disagreements can be so hard.
