is feeling OK
Hi everyone, I am so happy I found this site have been looking for something like this. I have had tmj for 8 years it has been the hardest thing I have ever gone through in my life. Have alot of knowledge to pass on. I had braces and needed orthonatic surgery and the hmo I belonged to denied it so the orthodontist took the braces off even though he told me I would end up with a dislocated jaw and chronic pain later on if I diidn't get the surgery. Six years later what the orthodontist told me happen dislocation. After botox injections for the pain for two years I found a Prostodontist who fixed the dislocated jaw with an orthotic and crowns, the only problem the disc were torn when the jaw dislocated. So to keep the pain under control now since I don't take the botox anymore I have to eat soft food and wear a splint when I sleep, eat and talk. If a bout of pain comes on then its vicodinn... I find it so hard to deal with. I saw two different surgeons and they both siad I was a cadidate for jaw joint replacement but it was so risky they would do it I would have to control the pain..... I will be happy to hear from anyone with any info or who just need support.... Your new friend...Kathy

Hello: How are things going today? Take care~~~ Jacki
Have had tmj for 8 years, been through dislocation, botox and an orthotic and crown to center the jaw.
I was told I had hasimoto's Tyroiditis and then was overmedicated with thyroxine and given graves disease, this went on for 3 years until I switched from Kaiser Hmo to UCDavis where it was straigtened out by lowering my medication, so I know what it feels like to be hypo and hyper of course neither one is comfortable. I have to be careful because there is a small margin between hypo and hyper. Good luck to all the thyroid patients struggling with this disease. Take good care!!!!!
I am joining for a friend that won't. He has sever sleep apnea....
